The breeze on my cheeks felt unreal, so soft and warm. For once, I felt at peace. I could hear soft splish splashes of the other lonesome soul awake at this wee hour of the morning. I didn't know them and they didn't know me; strangers living within the same building, people who never speak to one another but see each other's unremarkable faces traveling from door to car or vice versa. It was only five in the morning and the sun was only just threatening to light up the edges of the sky, but it never dipped below eighty the night before. The concrete against my feet felt extra smooth beneath my feet that morning. I laid in one of the many ancient lounging beach chairs that surrounded the pool, chained to the concrete, and found myself day dreaming staring at the sky slowly lightening above me. I never even got to go swimming that morning, too busy in my own head listening to the water.
