                                                                   ~Fresh Air~

"WHAT?" The genius' and the humans' simultaneous voices startled Ben out of his charming shell, and his face flinched into an uncertain grin. He was practically enchanted by (Y/n)'s soft lips parted ever so perfectly slightly as she gave him the most spine-chilling wonder-filled gaze.

But this feeling of delight competed with the intimidation he felt by Dexter's petrifying glare. The raging fire that seemed to have suddenly sparked in a split-second melted away every speck of blue in his seething irises.

"Um...Day out! Yeah!" He pumped both of his fists in the air awkwardly, trying to get himself excited again and to lighten the ginger's mood... His cool behavior disappeared quicker than a flash of lightning.

Dexter's eye twitched, and he quickly took in a breath before (Y/n) could notice. "Ben, it is admirable you want to relieve (Y/n)'s worries; however, I cannot stress enough that she must stay here."

His friend's cheerful smile dropped a little as he looked his way. "Aw, come on, Dex! She can't stay in a stuffy old lab all day!"

"'STUFFY'?" Every ounce of anger in the scientists' short stature was already at its highest boiling point. It's amazing that the overwhelming pressure didn't cause his lenses to crack (as such similar situations with a certain blonde annoyance has happened before).

Despite his surprise from earlier, Ben's demeanor wasn't fazed in the slightest anymore. Dexter's outbursts were pretty much an everyday thing, especially if someone insulted his precious laboratory.

There was just something about earlier he had never seen before.

"Yeah, I wanna show her around!" Ben said.

"That's very nice, but she should really get some more rest before she can face the public!" Dexter retorted.

"Pretty sure she's gonna die from boredom until then."

"Ahaha, trust me, I have plenty for her to do."

"Watching science documentaries for so long can only drive a person insane, man."

"Excuse me, but I have more than just 'science documentaries'. You DO realize where you are standing, right?"

"Right. In a stuffy maze of a lab where the only living being for miles is too busy with his 'quazar mechanics' to even take care of someone."

"EXCUSE ME BUT WHICH OF US HAS THE MEDICAL LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE HE-"

"Um...guys..?"

Her melodious voice gave them both enough goosebumps to fall silent. (Y/n) shrunk when both of their focus suddenly moved onto her. "U-Uh... Dexter, I don't mind going with Ben, but if you want me to stay here, then I wouldn't mind that either..." she confessed, not actually too sure of what she was saying. The argument was just getting so unbearable, she couldn't stand there and take it for much longer.

Ben hesitantly looked back at Dexter, who still had his eyes on her. A rush of frustration flowed through him. "Well, Dr. McPherson?" he said, crossing his arms.

He wasn't...actually mad at him. He just couldn't stand the fact that (Y/n) would have to sit here all day, and knowing Dexter and his """so very healthy""" work schedule, robots would be her only company. Thinking about someone like her being all alone, his heart would only pulsate with guilt and sympathy...

Not to mention the way Dexter kept staring at her was pretty irritating as well, though he couldn't really figure out why.

Meanwhile, Dexter let the sight of (Y/n)'s beauty calm himself enough to think. While every fiber of his being so desperately urged to tell her to stay, he knew he couldn't. As much as he hated to admit, making her stay here while he had so much to do just wasn't healthy.
