"Cas what do you mean?" Sam asked.

"It's as I said Dean is missing from heaven."

Dani watched the exchange between the two men. Sam had only recently told Dani about the angel, that he had been her father's best friend. She couldn't decide what the look he had given her meant. It made her uneasy.

"How long has he been missing?"

"A month."

"A month?!" Sam gasped. "And you're only telling us now?"

"We thought we had it handled. We thought that maybe Dean had done it somehow, but that is not the case. His soul was stolen."

"Do you know by who?"

"No. All we know is that his soul is here on earth, that he's alive."

Dani felt like she was going to puke. How in the space of a few minutes had her entire world shifted underneath her? She had been doing so well too. She had been able to meet her family, not by blood but still, and now her father's previously dead angel best friend was back from the dead, telling them that her father was also alive and may or may not have been kidnapped back to life.

She felt a warm hand press against her back that then slid across to clasp her shoulder pulling her to them in a side hug. At first, she thought it was Sam but when she looked up she found it was Jody. She was still looking at Castiel picking up every part of the conversation but her hand was gently rubbing up and down Dani's arm comfortingly. The caring non-verbal communication letting her know that she was not alone was enough to stop Dani from heading into the spiral that was threatening to suck her in.

Daniella could see the change in her uncle's body language his shoulders rose as if he were filled with hope despite the confusing situation.

"Dean's alive," Sam said a smile crossing his face.

Castiel seemed to take a moment finally. He looked around him at the faces staring back at him. His friends who he was now back with, alive. His eyes landed back on Daniella.

"Yes. Yes, he is." Cas kept his eyes fixed on Dani now not breaking the piercing look. Dani took a breath a shot of irritation flashing through her. She didn't like being intimidated and that seemed to be precisely what Castiel was trying to be trying to do. So she straightened and stepped forward a little.

"I'm Daniella." She said as if answering the question that Castiel was silently asking. Cas' head tilted again.

"I am Castiel."

Sam seemed to be pulled from his thoughts by the interaction.

"She's Dean's," Sam said outright. "She's his daughter."

"Why are we at the bus station?" Dani asked squinting out of the windscreen of the Impala.

"Dani I don't think it's the best idea if you're in on this one."

"What, why? He's my father Sam."

"I know but-"

"No. I'm coming with you."

Sam watched as her eyes flicked to Castiel in the back seat as if looking for confirmation of what she was hearing.

"I have no opinion on this," Cas said bluntly.

"He doesn't know you," Sam sighed bringing her attention back to him. "We don't know what he's been through he'll probably be mistrustful of everyone he doesn't know."

In truth, he was trying to protect Dani more than he was Dean. He knew how hard all of this had been for her the first time around with him, it would be ten times harder when it was her father. He didn't know how Dean would react either. If he reacted badly he didn't want his niece to suffer because of it. He wanted to give Dean time to process the news before he met Dani if that was something he even something that he wanted to do.

"The best thing that you can do is go home. I'll keep you in the loop on everything I promise, but I think it's better if you keep your distance, just for now."

Dani's eyes drifted to the side in contemplation. He could almost see her mentally flipping through pages of her own thoughts.

"You promise you'll tell me if anything happens?" She asked.

"Yes. I promise."

She gave him that penetrating look. The same look she gave to people they had, had questioned in the past. The look that made you feel like she could see into your brain to see if you were lying.

"Okay." She said finally satisfied. "If you need help with anything-"

"I know who to call." Sam squeezed her shoulder gently. "Want me to go with you to get a ticket?"

"No, I'll be fine."

She looked sad to be leaving. He had started noticing it a little more over the past couple of months whenever she had to go home. It warmed something in his chest that she wanted to be around him, Her favourite uncle, as she had put it once. He remembered responding with "You haven't met the other one yet." and she had called back "You'd still be my favourite."

She reached over to give him a tight squeeze that he returned.

"See you soon." She mumbled into his jacket.

"Yeah see you soon." He rubbed a hand up and down her back a couple of times before pulling away. She turned to Cas who had been trying to give them some semblance of privacy by starting out of the window. "It was nice to meet you Cas."

"You too." He nodded.

She climbed out of the car and retrieved her duffle from the trunk.

"Stay safe," Sam called from the open window.

"You too." She called back.

The two watched as she climbed up into the bus before Sam started the engine.

"She's really his?" Cas asked.

"Yeah Cas, she's really his."

The Impala pulled out of the bus station and rumbled down the highway.

AN: Hey guys, Sorry it's been so long since I've written. I've had wicked writer's block. I had to rewrite this chapter a few times before I figured out what I wanted to do.

Write again soon
