"Your story is not making sense, Tonde, how did the mattress end up on top of Linda then?". "Objection!, relevance?" cut in Mary, Tonde's lawyer. "All I'm saying is the defendant should repeat his story and remember that he is under oath" added Tanaka Maruma, the prosecutor. "I said, she attacked me because she was angry that I wanted to leave, and I defended myself by pushing her until she fell and the mattress landed on her", Tonde said unconvincingly.
There was silence in the court for about 5 minutes, Tonde thought he'd gone deaf, the silence was too loud, he felt tortured by it, 'why is no one speaking? Do they know I'm lying? How could they? I'm smarter than everyone in this room' , Tonde thought to himself.

After more minutes of silence, Tonde couldn't take it anymore, "okay, this is what actually happened!", he said without so much as a facial expression. "Linda and I agreed to meet at a lodge, halfway from both our distances, we often met there, this time Linda had come with news, she was pregnant with my child.... Could I have some water please?". "You will get some water when you finish Mr Mabwara!, need I remind you that this is your trial!", snapped the Judge. "Okay, okay!, where was I? Ah yes, Linda and her pregnancy". "Your pregnancy!" retorted the Judge, visibly annoyed. "My pregnancy", corrected Tonde, rolling his eyes, "my pregnancy, she told me that she wanted me to marry her, and I refused and made it clear to her that I had a girlfriend with whom I had plans to get married. This angered her and she threatened to tell my girlfriend about the pregnancy if I didn't marry her. We then got into a heated argument and I strangled her with a scarf, then I took the mattress and put it on top of her as she was unconscious then I set it on fire and went out through the window", said Tonde in one breath, without any single emotion or remorse on his face, true sociopathic narcissist. "Anything else you'd like to add?", asked the judge in disbelief. "Nope....", said Tonde sternly, "there's nothing left to say". The whole court went silent again, everyone staring in disbelief, no one made a sound , not even coughing sounds. Tonde was given his sentence, life without parole, then escorted to his prison cell, all the while he had the same emotionless, expression on his face with just a hint of, "I'm still smarter than you".
