Ahoy there...[steve] pt1

Steve one shot (this one's more like a mini story tbh)

This is set at like s3 time but no stranger things basically

In this one shot you and steve were always enemies in middle school, he the big hot shot, and you the cocky emo girl who no one knew anything about. One day when you were being picked up from school Steve follows you and your dad around the back of the school only to watch your dad beat you until u can't walk. Steve watched as he slumps you over his back and says "dumb sl*t, I can't believe I had to end up with such a mistake like you and not a boy like that Harrington kid." It hit deep and you look up with a bloody nose and see steve wide-eyed staring at you.... You've resented him even more from that day

You get ready for school and instead of going out the front door you climb out of the window as you want to avoid your dad, you meet your best friend, robin Buckley. After middle school, you chose to go to a different high school than Harrington because of that day. When she came out to you, you forgot that it was normal to come out as your dad always just called you an f*g and said that no one wanted to see my disgusting sh*t so she helped you realize it was ok. You helped Robin find many girls and you became friends because you were both the losers at the back of the class, Robin was never able to tell if she had a crush on you or if you were just like the sister she never had.

Now you and robin have graduated and are looking for jobs, "Hey Ro, the new mall might be promising?" you say as you flip through the newspaper while brainstorming ideas for new jobs. "I mean we might as well go check it out," Robin asks getting up from lying on her floor covered in magazines. "Ok, let's get ready then." You say enthusiastically as you get off her bed.

When you drive up to the new mall you and robin look at each other and start laughing. It looks like a lightbulb exploded on it!" you laugh. "No, and add rainbows everywhere." She says back. Now to everyone that would just be weird to say but the amount of inside jokes you have is insane so you could be talking about something and inside mean something completely different to robin.

As you set foot inside the doors you run straight into some random clothes shop and then quickly run back out to yank robin inside, after about an hour of trying on things you set to work on finding work. "How about that place?" robin asks pointing to a salon. "Robin Buckley as much as you are a female and only like and dream about females you are a female that can't do hair." You say. "You said female wayyy too many times I got distracted." Robin jokes as you both break into laughter.

"How about that place, Scoops Ahoy.... Sounds promising." You suggest after calming down. The place is shut but you can just about make out the sign. You both walk up to it and see that's hiring. There's a sheet to put your name down and a place to put your phone number too so robin rights down both your names and telephone numbers. "Hey looks like someone else has signed up, guess we'll have a new friend," Robin says. "Cool I suppose, now let's do more shopping. Upstairs we go..." you say dragging robin up the escalator.

A week later

'Bring bring, bring bring'

"OMG OMG OMG!!!" you scream as you scramble out of bed. "Hello this is y/n," you answer in a cool tone. You know this is Scoops Ahoy and you need this job over the summer so you cross your fingers and pray you got in as there were loads of people that signed up after you, that's what robin said anyway. "Hello, you have been accepted to work at scoops ahoy, you start Monday and your uniform will be waiting for you there." The voice says from the phone. You hang up and rush out of the house, you run about 5 blocks and then climb into Robins's window. "ROBIN! Robin!!!" you yell as you climb into the room waking her up "Jesus Y/n!" she yells as she was asleep.

Then the phone rings. The room goes silent and after a short call and the phone safely returned to the bedside table robin screams and so do you. You both start jumping on the bed like 4 yr olds when robins mum comes in, "Be quiet girls, oh hi y/n. next time just uses the back door, we always keep it unlocked." She smiled as she left the room.

Monday

"Looks like we're here first." You say as you open up to shop to see your uniform draped over the countertop. You both squeal and run to go try it on.

"OK ready 1 2 3!" robin says as you both show yourselves in the uniform. "Dang robin lookin fine!" you say winking at her. "Wait let me just change yours slightly," robin says crinkling the hat adding a few chains and rings, and adding a black pin to the jacket. "Perfect!" she says. Then you hear someone come from the counter. You push robin outside to see who it was, you can hear their conversation barely. "Hey, I'm robin..." Robin says as she thrusts out her hand for him to shake. "Steve, Steve Harrington." The man replies. Your heart sinks and you want to bury yourself in your grave early.

You stand up and go outside to see Steve. He's changed quite a lot but his hair is still the same. "Y/n.." he stutters. "No. I'm not f*cking talking to you hotshot Harrington." You say walking straight past him. "Damn cutie still not talking to me then?" he says as he follows you. Meanwhile, Robin is trying to connect the dots on what's happening. "I thought I said to stop calling me that," you replied bitterly. "Same here." He replied. "Fine dipshit." You say thrusting out your hand for him to shake it. He takes your hand and shakes it but doesn't let go and neither do you. You make eye contact and then let go and shake your head.

"I'm sorry what?" robin finally says after an awkward silence.
