The drive home was quiet. Not a word was spoken. Neither he nor I made a sudden sound. The tension in the car was extremely thick. It was as if it was suffocating both of us, you can see the annoyance on his face as he drives the car, while holding a firm grip around the wheel.
"You didn't say anything right?" He spoke, as he continue to drive while looking at the road. Not a single glance towards me.
"What if I did? Who is to say that the police aren't tailing you at this moment?"
Showing no emotions, he begins to shift the car to the left. Parking it a couple of blocks down from the house.
"You didn't say anything. I can hear the fear in your voice when you threatened me."
"It wasn't a threat, it was a warning. And I'm far from scared; I'm tired. Tired of hearing these sorry excuses of an "apology" whenever you're sober enough to understand what you've done. Tired of always explaining to people that I'm in a great place right now when in reality, I'm not."
"I'm not meaning to Isabella." He says, reaching his left hand out to mines, that remains sitting on my lap. I instantly pull away, moving myself a little further away from him.
"Just take me home." The rest of the ride home was silent.
For what felt like an eternity, we finally make it into the driveway
