Maddie started to pick up the smashed peaces of the broken plate. She gave up and sat at the table nearly crying. She walked into her room and kicked her bed post. She then sat on her bed and cried for hours sobbing nearly a river she looked out her window out onto the street watching the people walk bye, she saw two police men walking along,
"Another crime" she thought in her head. Maddie then heard a sudden knock at the door. She was hesitant to answer as several angry mobs of people had raided the house before. She looked trough the peep hole of the door. She saw the yellow, blue and white uniformorm, she knew this uniform from anywhere in was the police. 'What's she done this time' Maddie whispered thinking of all the other times police had been round about her mother. Maddie thought of the times were she herself had been caught by the police for silly stuff she thought like shop lifting, and mabey the occasional buying cigarets for people at school. She sighed and opened the door.
"Are you Miss Glasgows daughter?" They asked standing with a note book and pen outside the door.
"Um yes" Maddie said not really showing her face.
"May we come in?" They asked. Maddie looked up at the tall men towering over her.
"What for?" She said not really wanting them in her house wile she was alone, although it was probably better for her to talk to the police alone as all her mother would do is get stressed and argue back and get her self into even more trouble. The men pushed past Maddie and stood in the door way to her flat.
"I think you should have a seat." They said. At this point Maddie knew it was serious she led herself to a chair. This part of the flat was meant to be a living room but all it was was a smashed TV and some old scutty chairs. Maddie remembered the TV smashing incident were two men had come in Searching for money Maddie's mother owed them. Her mother told them she had spent her money on Maddie (of cause this wasn't true, she had spent it on alcohol.) so they smashed the TV and turned nearly the whole place upside down. Maddie looked up at the policemen.
"It's about your mother" they said. Maddie was not concerned at this point. Her mum was always in fights, arguments, drunk, and more but Maddie was used to this not, it was nearly an everyday occurrence, a day with out her mother getting into trouble was a reward for Maddie.
"What's she done this time?" She asked by accident she didn't want to get her mum into anymore trouble by the police knowing her past records.
"Your mother, she is dead." They said. Maddie felt a shock of horror shoot down her body. She tensed up with her jaw dropped.
"What do you mean she's dead?" She asked in a hurry. Her mouth was dry and she was starting to panic.
" your mother was found down an ally. She must have took an overdose of some drugs that she was on. May I ask for your name?" They said feeling sorry for Maddie.
"Um, its, uh" She was too shocked to speak "Maddie" she said "Maddie Glasgow".
"Do you have a farther Maddie?" They asked.
"Not that I know of, my mum didn't know him as much as I don't." She said. Maddie sat still in her chair, some how she couldn't cry, she thought is must be the shock. She didn't feel sad either she was just froze like a statue.
" Right then Maddie Glasgow, you best be coming with us." A policeman said sympathetically.
"No" Maddie said quietly but loud enough for the policemen to hear. One of the men kneeled down to Maddie's hight.
" We know this is hard for you." They said "But we can't leave you hear on your own. Your 13 and we need to discuss this matter at the station were we can talk about it and sort you out, can you be strong and do that for us?" Maddie looked up at the police man with one tear running down her face. She nodded slowly.
"Thank you." Said the police man and lead Maddie out the door.
