Simon's POV
-12 months after Dec's awakening-
Dear David,
I know it's been a long time now. A year. Dec is well, and everything is fitting right into place. I heard you found someone new, Stephen. I should've guessed, really. The chemistry was always there; I was just too egotistical to actually see it. I hope you guys are happy together...but David, I can't be happy without you. That sounds so selfish. You've found someone that makes you feel loved and validated, two things I never did. I played with your heart like it was another one of my toys. It was wrong of me, and I promise, I've changed - not that it makes any difference now.
I kept overthinking what I was going to say in this letter. I wanted it to be from the heart, but I kept rewriting it in my head until it sounded right. I'm not going to do that now. I'm just going to write it and it will end up how it ends up. I hope that's okay.
As One Direction stated, 'You only want me when I'm taken'. That's true. I suppose you don't realise what you've lost until somebody else has it. Now I feel like such a fool, knowing that you're in his arms tonight instead of mine.
I need you to know that I won't get over you until I have closure...and the only way I can get closure is by talking to you again. It doesn't have to be in person. It can be over text, or through a letter, or any other way you feel comfortable with. I hope you want me to be happy, although you have no reason to want that after the way I treated you. If you're not comfortable with that, I understand. It's been a long time and it's all over now. You're happy, but the memories of what we had come back every time I see something that reminds me of you. David, everything reminds me of you. Everything we had was perfect. I ruined everything. I hope Stephen makes you happier than I ever did.
If you can find it in your heart to do a small thing to help a broken man get his life back on track, it'd mean the world. Really, it would.

i'm hoping this book will be longer than the last. my writing style has matured a lot since i first started that book and i hope it's more enjoyable for you to read!
