Born to Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, Naruto was a rambunctious, loud, and extremely motivated young boy. Deep inside, a demon lurked within him, one strong enough to destroy an entire village. It almost did on the night this boy was born, but was stopped by his parents, who made a noble sacrifice to protect the people.

But what if that's not quite how the story played out.

The day was October 10th, the night of the nine-tails attack on Konoha, and the day the blonde haired knucklehead named Naruto was born.

Minato Namikaze grabbed his hokage cloak, and raced off to find out what was causing such a big disturbance in the village.

He appeared on the battlefield, in front of the nine-tails, and managed to stop a deadly tailed beast ball from destroying the hokage rocks.

He was grabbed from behind by an arm, and teleported away using flying rajin. The masked man warped in front of him.

"You broke the seal on Riyuji. Not many people know how to do that. Who are you?" the blonde questioned.

"An old acquaintance," the raven haired man replied as he pulled his hood down.

"Why are you doing this? What do you have against the leaf village?" Minato pressed.

The other man stayed silent, and instead readied to attack.

The battle between the two began, and Minato quickly realized he actually couldn't hit the masked man with physical attacks.

He went for another attack, threw a marked kunai that warped through the man's head, used flying rajin, and hit him with a rasengan from above.

The man managed to get up again after the attack, so Minato realized he had no other choice.

He would have to kill him to save the village.

The battle dragged on for a little while longer, and Minato had knocked the other man to the ground, and was now standing over him.

The masked man was out of chakra, and could barely stand any longer, but he didn't give in, continuing to fight until the bitter end.

It wasn't until Minato restrained both of his arms and legs, and was about to take his mask off, did he realize he truly lost.

Minato's hand hovered over the mask, and he hesitated before pulling it off, revealing the teenager underneath.

The blonde stepped backwards in shock, still clutching onto the mask.

"Obito," he breathed out.

"Minato Sensei. I'm sorry," Obito said, staring Minato in the eyes.

And then he warped away.

Minato dropped the mask in shock. Only the roars of the nine-tails from within the village brought him back to reality.

Standing directly underneath the tailed beast, Minato realized how incredibly large it was. He let out a shaky breath before teleporting to the place where his wife and child were resting, coming up with a plan to defeat the fox.

He looked around the room, only to find it empty.

"Kushina?" he called out, but he got no response in return.

He ran over to the window to stare in the direction of the increasingly more distressed roars of the nine-tails, only to see golden chains around it, holding it in place.

"Shit," Minato muttered, and teleported himself back to the battlefield, beneath the tailed beast.

There, Kushina was restraining the demon fox using Uzumaki sealing chains, holding an infant Naruto protectively in her arms.

"Kushina!" Minato yelled out, and began running towards the two of them.

"Minato, we have to seal half of the nine-tails inside of Naruto. It's the only way," Kushina said.

"I know," Minato replied. He turned his back to Kushina, and paused before speaking again. "I'll use the reaper death seal, and seal the other half within myself."

"Minato, you can't!" Kushina cried.

"It's the only way." He turned to Kushina, a sad smile on his smile face.

"It's.. not," a weak voice spoke from in front of the two, making Minato turn his head back forward.

"Riyuji! What are you doing?" Minato asked as he stared at the lilac haired woman clutching her stomach in front of the two of them.

"Saving the hidden leaf," she replied. "I'm going to die anyways. My tailed beast was extracted from me. Might as well make it worth it."

"No, what are you gonna do?" Minato asked.

"The same thing you were about to."

She then sealed half of the nine-tails inside of Naruto, and the other half within herself, killing her.

Minato and Kushina sat by her side when Hiruzen arrived.

"What happened?" he asked.

"She saved the hidden leaf," Minato replied. "She's a hero."
