The torrent from the previous night continued, raging on like a tempest. It was clear I would be stuck inside today. The silence of the morning was only broken by the pitter patter of raindrops against the windows. Listening to is made me tired again, even though I had just gotten up. I fell back in my bed, the rain's lullaby causing my eyes to vote in favor of a few more hours of sleep. But there was no time for resting, I still had to figure out how to get around that creepy girl following me. With the rain came a surge of chilliness which would be unfavorable had it not been summer. I grabbed my jacket and headed for the door. It appears dad got home before I woke up. He was passed out on the sofa.
The winds blew viciously outside, trying it's best to keep my from moving forward. I wan in the mood for Chinese food. The warm, savory aroma of roasted duck is the perfect way to start a rainy day. On foot the walk felt lengthy. The rain did nothing to help, recreating the feeling of climbing a mountain in winter. Relieved to see they weren't closed I ran inside. Almost immediately the different delicious smelss of Chinese cuisine filled my nose. If the walk to get here wasn't so long I wouldn't mind coming here more often. After placing my order I sat down to wait on my number to be called."That's quite some rain outside, Mr Rivera." a voice behind me called out. Turning to see who it was I quickly lowers my head to avoid eye contact. It was Mrs Allen. Her gaze still gives me shivers but it might be rude to look away while talking.
"Yes ma'am, it's pouring really heavily out there." Out of everyone I could have run into here, it just had to be her.
"So Mr Rivera, what are your thoughts on my daughter?" Clearing my throat, I thought about what I should say.
"She's quite responsible and she's flawless when it comes to maturity."
Seemingly pleased to some extent by my answer, her ever-present intense aura faded a little and I felt slightly at ease. She stood up, probably because her number was called.
"Your academics appear to be in order, I hope for your sake your personal activities are as well." She walked off to collect her order. So she has been to the school to take a look at my file. This cements what that mysterious girl said yesterday, so there's no room for slip ups on my end. Finally called to get my order, I made my way to the counter. The smell of roasted duck had my mouth watering. Holding everything close to my chest, I did my best to protect the food from the rain's assault. At least compared to when I was going to the restaurant the rain eased up a bit. Unfortunately the same could not be said about the frigid temperature. The vicious winds continued, giving the cold more chances to get through my jacket. Inching ever so close to home, lightning began flashing more frequently and with one more flash she appeared seemingly out of thin air. That creepy girl from the park stood in my way, staring right back at me. But why is she here now? I was determined to get past her. It's raining, cold and this roasted duck and fried rice is supposed to be my comfort food. I couldn't afford to let it get cold. I continued walking , trying to ignore the fact she was directly in front of me. I was getting closer to her by the second, her grin becoming more noticeable as I got nearer. Suddenly, she ran towards me. The ground was drenched from the rain so the speed which she moved at without slipping was impressive. The road was filled with puddles, any passing car could end up soaking me in water. The sidewalk wasn't any better, I was already trying to be cautious in fear of slipping. She had me in checkmate. I braced myself for whatever she might do. Stopping right at my feet I might've imagined the grin I saw. With her face looking down she whispered "Mrs Allen is pleased with you so far." "She will be keeping an eye on the activities you do in the community as she's still suspicious about what exactly you do."
"You mean you'll be spying on me."
"And I'll enjoy every moment of it." She looked up at me smiling. Her whole energy just makes me feel uneasy.
