CHAPTER 4
(BALL)

Tonight was the Gala event so after I finished I headed home to get ready because tonight I was going with my boss but I wanted to look my best because we needed to raise as much money as possible for the hospital. All of the apartment heads, doctors and nurses we're going apart from residents. However I was going because I was going to be the plus one of Dr Abrams who had invited me to go with him.

Because recently I had been working alongside Dr Abrams in the Neuro department. I wanted to give myself hours to get ready because I wanted to look perfect. I sat there for hours making sure my makeup was perfect before working on my hair. Then I got dressed into a dress that I had bought with Leslie during a shopping trip it several dresses until we found the perfect one. As I got got into the dress I smiled because I was excited for the event because it was a great event and it gave me the chance to meet amazing surgeons.

I took one last look at myself in the mirror before I opened my bedroom door and walked out before heading down the stairs as I did I noticed Kelly and Leslie were stood there waiting before they looked up at me. As I looked at them I noticed that there mouths were dropped before Leslie pushed up Kelly's chin closing his mouth. Before I reached the end of the stairs and Leslie wolf whistled. As twirled around "Dam girl if only you were gay" Leslie said with a cheeky grin on her face which made me chuckle.

"you look beautiful" Kelly said with a proud smile  "I'm proud of the doctor and woman you've become" Kelly said which made me feel as if I was going to crying but I held it in because I didn't want to ruin my make up "Thankyou" I said with a smile "You need to impress these benefactors that are going to be there" Kelly before giving them another twirl "you definitely will" Leslie said. "Right we'd better get going Cinderella can't be late to the ball" Kelly said before raising his arm for me to put through as I smiled before waving goodbye to Leslie.

As the car pulled up to the hospital I looked through the window to see Dr Abrams stood outside the building waiting for me, wearing a tux with a bow tie, as Kelly Parked the car I reached over placing a kiss on his cheek "see you later" i said before opening the car door and stepping out of the car before waving to Kelly as he drove away. As Kelly drove away I walked over to Sam. "Hey" i said with a smile "you look beautiful" Sam said which shocked me he wasn't exactly unfriendly to me but his complements always ended with an insult.

"Thankyou" I said, I was surprised when he asked me to be his plus one "you don't look so bad to yourself" I said with a smile before I put my arm in his before we headed inside. As we walked in I looked around to see it looked like a very posh event everyone dressed in expensive dresses, with bags I couldn't afford. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. It took us while to find where we were going to be sat because the room was packed with doctors and benefactors as far as the eye could see.

The event had 3 parts, mingle and drink with the guests smooth talking them into giving as much money as possible to the hospital, dinner and then the auction by the time we got over to our table it was time to sit down. As we walked our table I looked at the name tags and realise they I was sat next to Sam, Sam pulled out my chair for me before I sat down "Thankyou" I said with a smile before he sat down. Now it was time for the auction doctors and nurses from the hospital were going up for sale for one day only.

To the benefactors and anyone else attending the event and luck would have it I would be first on the list to be sold. "Welcome Ladies and Gentleman to the Chicago Med charity gala, now the best till last the auction" the host said as everyone began to cheer. "The first sale of the evening is Dr Lexi Severide first year resident at Chicago Med, talented surgeon and incredibly beautiful lady wouldn't you agree" The host said as I began to walk across the stage. As everyone cheered as I walked which made me smile "let's start the bid at 20" the host said as everyone bid and it kept going which worried me before I heard someone shout $10,000 dollars.

Which shocked me and I looked around to see it was Dr Abrams "$10,000, ok, once going twice, sold to Dr Abrams" the host said "the head of Neuro surgery at Chicago Med" the host said with a wide grin. Before I began to walk down the steps before the host began to start the second sale as I walked back over to our table and sat down. "Looks like I'm yours for a day" I said with a smile "why did you bid on me" I asked because I was confused "because your the future of Neuro" Sam said with a grin.

Later that night we walked down the street together "so what do you want to do" I asked "a drink?" Sam asked as we stopped and he looked at me "yeah ok" I said as we walked and headed to a cute little bar close to the event as we sat down at the bar I ordered a glass of white wine and Sam ordered a scotch "so why did you invite me to the event and don't say it's because I'm the future of Neuro" I said which made him place his drink down and look at me "because I find you attractive" Sam said which shocked me because he had never made said anything which made me believe that he thought of me like that.

"Is it so difficult to believe" Sam asked, "yeah because you usually just ignore me or speak to me occasionally when you have to" I said "well I'm your boss and the age gap is large" Sam said he was older than me he was a closer to my dads age than me. I smiled at him before we finished our drinks and headed out "I'd invite you back to my place but I live with my brother and his bestfriend" I said which made him smile "my place it is" Sam said as we got a cab back to his house because we had both been drinking.
