The three of them stood there, not saying a word. Grayton used this time to look around and see if there's anything he can do to pull himself out of this situation, though he wasn't sure that anything could help him right now. But by looking around, Grayton realised the full scale of damage that his little chase with Essie did.
On the ground he could see the ceramic tiles cracked and destroyed where Essie stepped, caused by her using her strength to propel herself forward. Every step she took was as long as 5 steps for Grayton. Grayton shivered at the thought that she was only a few steps away from catching him.
Grayton also saw pieces of the door she broke scattered around on the hallway floor. It seems that Essie tried to throw a piece of the door at Grayton but hit a window instead. It was almost unfathomable that the girl whimpering on the floor in front of him did all of this.
After a few more seconds of awkward silence, the principal walked forward and started to check on his daughter.
"Grayton, would you mind explaining what happened?" The principal said, surprisingly calm
"You wouldn't believe me even if I told you" Grayton said. Who would ever believe that Essie tried to kill him, and had monstrous strength as well?
"Is this about how strong she is? Don't worry I already know about that, what I want to know is what exactly happened here" The principal assured Grayton
Without any other choice, Grayton started to explain about how he damaged the trash can that night and how Essie gave him a mild concussion.
"All this just because of a trash can? I'm disappointed in you" The principal said as he helped Essie get back up on her feet. Essie just hung her head low and said nothing.
"I'll get back to you later Grayton, just go and sit in the lobby and wait for me" The principal ordered as he led Essie somewhere Grayton couldn't be bothered to check.
As Grayton walked to the lobby where the chase began, his adrenaline started to lose effect and because of that, his headache returned.
"Agh, dammit"
Grayton sat down in the lobby and waited. Soon enough, the principal came and sat next to Grayton.
"I honestly don't know where to start" The principal said
"Ok how about her... power, where'd she get those?" Grayton asked
"I honestly don't know, she wouldn't tell me" The principal said
"Alright then, what's going to happen to me now?" Grayton said
"Well first off, I'd like to offer an apology, you could've gotten seriously hurt and I acknowledge that..."
Grayton said nothing and let the principal continue
