Tears were strolling their way down my face. The only sound I could hear was my heart thumping in my chest. My eyes were wide, but my vision was blurry from the tears escaping.
I could feel the body behind me move closer, "Shh... It's me".
Once I heard his familiar voice my body relaxed in relief and the tears stopped. He let go of me and once he did I turned around and hugged him. He patted my back and I said, " I'm so happy you're here Maddox".
He pulled away and looked down at me but before he could speak a loud ring came out of nowhere. I turned my head towards the sound, "Run!"
I heard rustling come towards us and I could make out Cains figure. His eyes were wide and I heard another shot. Behind him I saw a mix of orange and yellow spread up a tall tree.
Fire.
I took Cains advice and started running. I didn't know where we were going, I don't even know if they knew where we were going. I doged trees and jumped over twigs. A cold sweat started forming on my head and my legs begged me to stop running. That just made me want to run faster. I ended up passing Cain and Maddox as adrenaline washed over me and I saw we were nearing the end of the forest.
Someone caught my elbow with force and pushed me behind a tree. I could make out blue eyes and I opened my mouth to scream, but he put a gun to my head and I shut my mouth.
I heard Maddox and Cain run past the tree and after we couldn't hear the echoes of their feet stomping the man smirked at me.
"Well well..." He whispered. I gulped, speachless.
His smirk widened as he noticed my fear. He moved closer to me and I wanted to scrunch my nose up in disgust. He smelt horrible, almost, dare I say it, like death. He grabbed my arm forcefully and pushed me in the direction I was running in, " Walk," his voice was stern.
I started walking and he put the gun in my stomach, " Just in case you pull anything," he said. I gulped and noticed my cold sweat turned into a nervous sweat. I felt like I was going to puke. What is going to happen to me? What is he planning on doing?
Stupid, stupid Emerson! I should have just waited! I should have listened. Why couldn't I have listened? Wait- that's right, Autumn. I can't just leave her out there. Its way to dangerous. She is worth this. I need to survive and find her, even if I am risking my life.
We walk further and I start to hear voices. Not just any voices, but familiar voices: Maddox and Cain. I was about to open my mouth, but his hold on me stiffened and then I remembered about the weapon in his hand. I was fighting back tears, this is ridiculous. Pull it together Em. You can't cry, it shows fear.
The next thing I know I am standing fifteen feet in front of Maddox and Cain. We were standing close to a cliff
Maddox and Cain were casting angry glares at the man beside me.
"Let her go," Maddox growls.
A small tear leaks out of my left eye as the gun is pushed further in my side, almost making me jump. Cains eyes are on the man holding a gun to my side, but then they move behind me. His eyes reach mine and that's when I hear it, a voice.
"You know you can't shoot her," Blue eyes stiffens and we turn around to see Asher looking at the man in disgust.
"I can shoot her dead right now. Don't test me boy," Blue eyes says sourly.
Ashers jaw clenches and shakes his head, " No. You used all of your ammo. I have ears, and I can count. Don't test me, Savage," Asher hisses back.
