Chapter Six- Familiar

Pleyer pov.

It's been almost two weeks in this new school. And honestly, not as bad as I imagined, even though I don't want to admit it. I actually made a few friends, along with a few enemies that, I'm afraid, will try to beat the absolute crap out of me if I'm not careful. My seatmate had to saved me multiple times from those idiots that have held a grudge against me from the start. Speaking of my seatmate. She's, well.... A bit weird. She seems so tired all the time, bringing coffe and energy drinks to school daily (mostly coffe). Don't get me wrong, I'm tired too, a lot, but with her it's just so different. I'd normally just fall asleep like most people, but she just seems to focus on the lesson, I've never seen her sleep in class, even if she seems like she didn't sleep for months. Like don't get me wrong, she's actually quite pretty, I find her cute, she is nice to me, doesn't try to kill me like Maddison, she's the complete opposite of her in a way. Also, I wonder where she is all the time, I usually join her friends and her on the way home, and she just goes straight to her house all the time, she doesn't go shopping when her friends go, just nothing that I or other people would do, ive never seen her outside after school once. I don't know, maybe I'm the weird one, I don't even know why I focus on her so much.

Anyway, another boring school day today. I came into the class as usual, I saw people talking before the class started. I made my way over to my table and saw the ever so usual stuff; Roxy, Angela and Aiden talking while Melissa was laying on her desk looking absolutely exhausted. I sat down next to her and said hello to everyone.

"hi Mel" I said as I unpacked my stuff

She didn't say anything and still layed down, I wondered if she was sleeping, so I tapped her shoulder. She lifted her head up slowly and looked at me while raising an eyebrow.

"What?" she asked with an annoyed tone

"oh, uhm, nothing. Sorry for bothering." I said nervously

She frowned at me and then went back to laying on the desk. I wanted to know what's wrong but I didn't say anything. I unpacked the rest of my stuff and then felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Aiden looking at me." don't worry, she'll get out of it" he said motioning at Melissa. I just gave him a nod and looked back. "wanna go fuck around before the bell rings?" I suddenly heard him say. "uhh, sure..?" I said hesitantly before being pulled by my arm out of the door by the taller boy. He pulled me into the hallways before letting my arm free.

"soooo, what do you want to do?" he said enthusiastically

"sleep" I answered

"hehe, very funny Miles, now, what are we actually gonna do, we have like half an hour" he said

"geee, I dunno. Maybe go somewhere without so much people? They give me anxiety" I chuckled.

"uu, uu, I know JUST the place" he said before he grabbed my arm again and started dragging me down the hallways.

A bit later we arrived at a library, I didn't even know the school had one. He dragged me into it until we reached a comfy looking place with a few bean bags and a table on the floor. The walls made our of bookshelves accompanied by white fairy lights. It was an a seperate room in the far, end of the library. "what is this place" I asked, amazed by it. "it was an art project of our old art class, cool right?" he turned to me. "yea, I mean, it looks really good, the lights are a nice touch" I added with a smile and sat down.

We sat in silence for a while before I broke it "you have a really deep voice for your looks" I said with an awkward smile. "oh, yea I get that a lot, I don't even know why I do, but it's cool, just like me" he said with his head up in the clouds. "riiigghhhtttt- so, can you tell me why is Mel so tired all the time?" Aiden looked taken aback. "oh uhm, that's the thing... I don't really know, nobody does. She doesn't talk about it a lot. Well I'm pretty sure Angel knows, but she doesn't tell anyone either. Maybe you could find out" he looked at me sheepishly. "perhaps I could, but how if she won't even talk to me". "I dunno dude, try something I guess"

There was a short silence between us again, so I decided to pull out my phone to look at the time. "yea, we still got a few more minutes" I said and internally sighed. "alright, sooo uhh, do you maybe wanna go out sometime?" "um-" I think I blushed and didn't know what to say "wait- that.. That came out wrong- i-I meant like go play soccer or something" he said nervously "yeye, I know what you meant, but I'd love to go out with you" I put my fist on my chin, smirked and raised my eyebrows twice in a mocking manner. "is that so?" he repeated my actions for a split second before we both burst out laughing. After a while and wiped of a nonexistent tear from my eye. I suddenly realized that he felt oddly familiar, like that feeling you think you know someone but can't quite put your finger on it. I brushed it of as my mind being overly active in the morning.

Angela pov.

"so you were up all night again" I turned to Melissa with a frown

"yea.." she responded.

"Mel, you know you can't do that so much, it can't possibly be good for your body, look at yourself" i was really worried about her at this point, she looked like she was about to die.

"so I'm just supposed to let my mother die?"

she said coldly while laying on her desk. I sighed, knowing that I can't do much. "just please take care Mel" I looked at her sadly. She sighed and put the hood of her hoodie on. "wait a second, the lesson starts soon, where the hell are Aiden with the new kid?" I said confused and pulled out my phone to text Aiden. "I don't know, probably making out in the library, also it's Miles" Melissa said with a chuckle. "I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear lhe first part, but yea, if they're anywhere, it's the library" I put the phone in my pocket before heading towards the library.

As I was walking, I suddenly ramed into someone. I looked up and saw Aiden staring at me, I didn't hear what he was saying, I was too mesmerized by his deep hazel eyes. "hello? Earth to Angel?" I snapped out of my trance. "oh, shit sorry, I didn't see you" I looked down because I felt my cheeks heating up, he apologized too and tried to make me look at him, but I quickly turned in the other direction and mumbled that the class is gonna start soon. With that, we all headed to class.

We got to class soon and sat down at our respective places. Mel looked at us weirdly "the hell were you two doing there" she said with a raised eyebrow. "just talking" Aiden said. "and Aiden here accidentaly asked me out" Miles added and chuckled a bit.

"called it" Melissa  said with a smirk looking at the blackboard.
