the ninja had been in the kingdom of shintaro for less than a day. they got the news in a 'fancy card' that jay had picked up. when the mailman dropped it off, he kept going on about he doesn't deliver one of these every day. which was probably true, the kingdom of shintaro only lets a handful of visitors in.

shortly after the mailman left, the ninja rushed to get ready. but the ride there wasn't as smooth as they thought. though zane had warned them about the dire bats, they weren't prepared enough. so the bats ate through the sails and they almost crashed. but just in time, dozens of the kings guards lifted up the bounty and flew them over to the castle.

the castle was white with gold points (idk what their called) at the top of ever building. everything there was perfect. the gardens were perfectly cut, the grass was all a perfect luscious green colour. and though wu  said, 'once you've seen one magical kingdom, you've seen them all.' he still seemed amazed when he saw the kingdom.

princess vania had invited the ninja to her birthday herself. she was awfully excited to see the ninja, most of all the earth ninja, cole. he'd always been her favourite, maybe a little bit more than a favourite. she had a bit of crush on cole, she would never admit to it, but if she didn't. the feelings would still be there, clawing her from the inside.

however, the earth ninja's heart belonged to his boyfriend, the fire elemental. they had been dating for quite some time. but yet, no one had found out. they had been so obvious. but no one knew still. the couple was dumbfounded by that, they were trying to tell them by not telling them, in prime empire they tried to be more obvious but none of the others payed attention, so if the ninja didn't know. then it was sure the news hasn't been out to the public yet, so it hasn't been in any of the books the princess has read.

'well where should we start?' cole said awkwardly, reaching his hand out. he could tell that the princess had a special thing for him. kai in the background had been keeping a close eye on princess vania and cole, even though he knew that the earth elemental would never cheat on him. but this gnawing feeling he had that he might with this... girl.

lloyd was also suspicious of cole and the princess, cole seemed... friendly... too friendly.

but before princess vania could say anything, king vangelis slipped in between and grabbed the raven haired male's hand. kai looked over at the princess and saw the disappointment on her face, though she tried to hide it, it was still painfully obvious that she was disappointed. 'you can start, by following me.' the king said with a soft chuckle, he led the elemental masters along with some guards to some rooms. there was enough rooms for all of the 6 ninja. 7 rooms, counting master wu.

cole and kai were sad they had to go a couple days not sleeping in the same bed, they've found that without the others warmth, it's hard to sleep.

they were led to their rooms one by one by a guard. cole was led to his room, the guards shut the door behind him. right after they left, he let out a disappointed sigh. he took off the shoulder pad (idk i play hockey 😭) and hung it on the hook lazily. he flopped on the bed, his face smashing into the pillow. he lay there for a minute, thinking about how kai would be next to him right now, his unexplainable comforting warmth, kai's head in the nook of cole's neck. he sighed again and looked up at the door. but instead of a door, it was... lloyd? he spoke, 'hello, cole.' he said with a straight face, cole yelled in surprise. 'lloyd!? how'd you sneak in here?' the earth elemental moved back towards the back of the bed. 'i'm a ninja, remember?' the green ninja said in a voice that sounded like: "wasn't that obvious?"

'i'm need to warn you about the princess.'
'i think she's lying, cole. and i think she's up to something.'
'i can tell.'
'they're all the same.'
