Emma couldn't sleep that night. She had locked herself in her room after storming away from when Olivia had driven her home, she never even got a chance to say goodbye to her.

She really didn't want to talk to her family even though they meant well. Emma felt emotionally exhausted and didn't want to deal with any lectures right now. Her Aunt had attempted to talk with her and offer her dinner but eventually gave up on her efforts knowing she wasn't going to win this battle. Emma could be so stubborn at times, just like Olivia.

She rolled over in her bed and checked the time on her phone for the millionth time, 1:46 am. Everyone in the house had finally gone to sleep as she was left alone with her own mind. She groaned to herself as she threw her phone towards the end of her bed.

So many thoughts were swirling through her head as images of Olivia replayed over and over.

Her mother, well birth mother.

She couldn't believe the resemblance between them. Of course she was going to have some similarities with the woman but was stunned at how much she actually looked liked the total stranger. She had her nose, which she had always hated. The same dark brunette hair that fell below her shoulders. Her long legs and face shape. It felt so weird as she began to herself in a different aspect now. She had always thought her parents were her gene pool.

Olivia's eyes. She had Olivia's eyes. Those pools of liquid chocolate were no mistaking that was Olivia daughter.

Or at least she assumed she did, she had no clue what her birth father looked liked. They didn't exactly get that far leaving Emma with so many unanswered questions. She couldn't remember if she saw if Olivia was wearing a wedding ring, was she even married? Did she have kids? That would mean she had siblings, well half siblings. If so, did they know about her and Olivia's past?

Emma just wanted to run away from her head right now.

She pulled her curtains aside and pushed her window up as she climbed out carefully on to the rooftop and sat down as she pulled her legs up close to her chest. Emma had been doing this for years and it was one of her favorite places to be alone. She drew in a deep breath as she took in the warm summer night air. The stars completely covered the night sky as she looked up. Out of all the places she had moved to throughout her life Connecticut had to be her favorite, although now she wondered what it would have been like to grow up in New York with Olivia. She took a moment to take in the peace and tranquility of the night her mind kept wandering back to Olivia.

Emma did feel somewhat guilty for not telling her Aunt and Uncle that she wanted to meet Olivia and going off to do it on her own accord. She should have known it was going to backfire somehow but also felt like she was betraying her parents and her family, she couldn't loose any more family. She adored the family she had been lucky enough to be gifted.

Emma felt her phone vibrate and knew it could only be one person texting her this late.

"You still awake?"  Luke's message read.

Emma replied almost instantly, "Yup."

"Roof?"

"You know I am." Emma typed back.

She waited for a reply but didn't receive a response from Luke. 'Whatever' she thought to herself as she shoved her phone back into her pocket. It was less than ten minutes later when she noticed a shadow walking down the street and crossed onto her lawn.

It was Lucas, of course, or Luke as he mostly went by. He went to the side of the house and climbed up lattice attached to the house until he reach the second story to where Emma was huddled.
