After Geralt had arrived he, Vesemir and I all walked back up to the main keep and he started interrogating me. Well interrogation might not be accurate but that's what it felt like. After I had told him everything I knew he sighed

"How did... how did she look?" Geralt asked curious about her physical condition I assumed

"She looked tired I guess is the best way to put it" I explain thinking about when I saw her "I'm assuming she had been running for quite some time before I met her"

"Makes sense. It's hard to lose the hunt, those dam elf's" he says surprising me

"Wait they're elf's? The looked like some kind of wraith to me" I ask curious about them being half related to me

"Yes they use that armor to make others fear them. But under that armor they're just some kind of elf" Geralt explains as I nod

"Guess we have that in common" I say with a sigh

"What are you a elf? Don't look the part" Gerat observes

Well to be fair he wasn't wrong. While I'm half dark elf I look like a dark skinned nord "My mother was a elf and my father a nord. I'm a half breed"

"Interesting" Vesemir says "I'm surprised then that you don't have more of a aptitude for magic"

"My mother was more magically inclined then I am, however she did teach me a good amount of spells. However I'm still not that talented in my worlds standards" i say thinking about all the times my mother tried teaching me magic

"You say that your not skilled in magic yet I heard you chanting earlier during your duel with Lambert. How'd you explain that?" Geralt asks as I sigh having to explain this again

"That's not exactly magic it's called a shout. I was born with the blood of a dragon so it allows me to speak their language and uses shouts" I say briefly trying to make my explanation quick

"Hmm anything else we should know about you?" Geralt asks clearly not being overly trusting of me

"Well I almost became a werewolf and had the choice of becoming a vampire lord but I turned them down" Vesemir perks up at that

"What's the story behind that?" Vesemir asks

"Well in my world Tamriel I was a senior member of a group called the companions. The senior members were all werewolf's and they gave me the choice to become one but I declined" I explain thinking about my times dueling Farkas and hunting with Ayella

"Can't say I blame you. Being a werewolf is one hell of a curse" Geralt says as I look at him confused

"Actually there's not many downsides unless you manage to piss off Hircine" I say bluntly "Hircine is the daedric lord of the hunt and patron of werewolf's"

"What's a daedric lord?" Vesemir asks

"Basically there gods who mortals worship. Hircine is one of the better Daedra in my opinion. Daedra like Clavicus Vile and Marunes Dagon are some of the most evil beings in existance" I say thinking about my own run ins with them in the past "Each daedric prince has their own artifacts. For example I have two here"

I draw dawnbreaker "This sword is called dawnbreaker and it's the artifact of meridia the daedric lord of purity and light. It's very effective against undead and sets most creatures it cuts ablaze"

"Definitely useful for hunting monsters" Geralt says as I nod "You said you had a second artifact?"

"Ahh yes one of the most useful ones" I say pulling out the skeleton key "This is called the skeleton key. It belongs to Nocturnal daedric lord of shadows, thievery and patron of the thief's guild. It simply put can unlock anything"

"Interesting" Vesemir says as I put it back on my belt and he turns to Geralt

"Well if you plan on staying for the winter you can help me prepare for the trial of the grasses" Vesemir says with a somber tone as Geralt looks down

"Are we really doing this?" Geralt asks standing up "You know how Lambert feels about it. I know it's necessary for their training but still"

'Just what happens in this trial?' I think to myself knowing it can't be good

"I know why you have reservations but it's necessary" Vesemir says as I interject

"What is the trial of the grasses?" I ask as both go quiet

"It's the most important trial for someone to become a witcher. It involved a concoction of herbs that transform the boys body into that of a witcher" Vesemir explains as I get the feeling he's not telling me everything

Then it clicks

"Not many survive do they?" I ask in a somber tone

"Three in ten usually" Geralt says bluntly

I sigh "Well by the sounds of it they won't Survive as witchers without the mutations right?"

"More than likely not" Geralt says

"Then I don't see the point In not doing it" I say quickly shocking Vesemir "They'll all likely die without them. This way at least some will survive"

"Indeed. I've collected most of the herbs just have a few more. We'll begin after winter sets in" Vesemir says getting up and looking down at the apprentices "Give them a little more time to prepare"

"They'll need it" Geralt says

Timeskip 3 month

Winter had set in so I was officially stuck at Kaer morhen for a few months. I had been training with Geralt a lot as he filled me in on his history with Ciri and the wild hunt. Apparently he had received amnesia for several years and had only recovered his full memory recently. We actually got along quite well and I had mentioned joining him on his search for Yennefer after winter is over.

Now however it was time for the trial. We had gathered the apprentices and placed them in the contraptions. For now they numbered twelve. I had some reservations with the trial but I knew they wouldn't survive without it.

"You know you don't have to be here for this right?" Vesemir says with a hand on my shoulder

"Yes I do" I say with a somber tone as Vesemir sighs as he walks over to the apprentices

"You've been told what to expect for months. Some of you will survive and those that do will be strong and faster" he says taking a breath "You will be witchers"

He gives Eskel, Lambert and Jericho a nod as they start injecting the boys with the concoctions

All I remember about what happens next is screams then the sound of swords being drawn
