My head is killing me and if my eyes were open, I'm guessing the room would be spinning. My stomach is churning and I groan, unhappy. Maybe whatever was in that bottle was a little too much for me. I guess I misjudged how strong it was or how much I could take.
"Ah, she awakens," A soft female voice says and I roll over to my back, opening my eyes as I do so.
I'm in my bed as I was when I went to bed, but given the fact that my entire body is aching, I sure as hell didn't stay in my bed. I look over and see that there is a Krelk sitting in a chair by my bed.
His skin is a light, almost sky blue color. Eyes a startling green. He has high cheekbones and a thin nose. Broad shoulders and narrow waist as typical of most Krelks. He was dressed in sleek grey pants and a shirt made out of the same material and color except that he had long sleeves made out of black colored fabric.
"Who're you?" I ask, my speech slightly garbled.
"My name's Lark. I'm the one who got you back to your room," The man says and I sigh.
"What did I do?" I ask, not exactly wanting to know the answer.
"Something you called yodeling, single ladies, and some 'fly dance moves'," Lark says and I sigh.
"Is that why my entire body hurts?" I question, covering my eyes.
"No, that would be because you decided to fall down a flight of steps," Lark says, a smile teasing his face.
"I made a complete fool of myself, didn't I?" I question and Lark nods.
"In your defense, no one thought to tell you that there was alcohol in the bottle," Lark says and I groan.
"What kind of trouble am I in?" I ask, dreading the answer.
"None. The royal family is actually wanting to apologize to you. First, the attack on the shuttle, and then someone gets you drunk. Not a very good start to the exchange," Lark says and I shrug.
"I'm just happy that I didn't break anything," I say and this causes Lark to burst out laughing.
"You may not have broken any bones but you did break a guard's nose," Lark says and I stare at him, horrified.
"I did? I am so so sorry. I don't even remember what happened," I say, rubbing at the growing headache.
"It's fine. I'm pretty much all healed now. It didn't take long to reset it and after that, it didn't take long to heal," He says and I open my mouth, even more horrified.
"I broke your nose?!" I ask, incredulous.
"Yeah, don't worry about it. I won't try you for treason or anything," Lark says, joking.
"Treason? Not to be rude but would they really try me for reason for breaking a guard's nose?" I ask, still trying to figure out what exactly happened in those missing hours.
"Well, I may have fibbed at bit. I'm not exactly just a guard," Lark says and my stomach sinks. I've read enough books to know where this is going.
"Your part of the royal family," I say and he nods.
"Don't worry, I'm not part of the main royal family, just a cousin," he says and I plop down into the pillows.
"I've just assaulted royalty. Oh, do you have any idea how screwed I am?" I ask, more to myself.
"I wouldn't say that. Uncle and Auntie are preparing a welcome dinner for you right now. Or maybe more of a party? Anyways, neither them nor I am too troubled with what happened," Lark says and I sigh.
