Part 2

A few hours later, he woke up, and suddenly remembered Hua Cheng's return; he smiled to himself in the dark and looked at him. To his surprise, Hua Cheng wasn't sleeping, and smiled back at him. He turned his body, facing Hua Cheng, and asked softly,

"Is it jet lag?"

"Maybe", Hua Cheng replied, shrugging lightly. "How about you, why are you up?"

"I always wake up in the middle of the night", Xie Lian said, "I stay up a bit, then fall asleep again".

"Is it anxiety?", Hua Cheng asked.

Xie Lian smiled, "Nah, don't think so. I feel good".

As opposed to waking up with palpitations, his heart so fast he couldn't breathe and had to cough out, and that feeling of dread, with clammy hands and feet. Now it was different.

He dragged himself closer, and Hua Cheng put an arm out for him to rest his head on, which he did, his arm across Hua Cheng's chest, almost lying down on top of him. Funny how they had that chat by the beach at Mount Tong'lu Festival, then Hua Cheng went away, and returned only that very night; it felt as if they've been always together, that intimacy felt so natural.

"It's so quiet, I just stay in the dark, thinking. Thinking of you", he said, giving Hua Cheng a smiling glance.

Hua Cheng smiled, "No need to think anymore, I'm right here". He kept caressing Xie Lian's back lazily, while having his other arm crossed behind his head.

"I know, I'm so happy San Lang", he sighed, pressing himself against Hua Cheng and kissing him.

Maybe it was the silence, the darkness, or because they were feeling relaxed and so close; the initial soft and gentle kiss went on and on, and before they knew they were kissing furiously, their tongues playing with each other's, smiling and biting each other's lower lips. Xie Lian hugged Hua Cheng, pressing his body against his, and Hua Cheng was now using both arms to hug Xie Lian tight.

Hua Cheng was the one to break the kiss. "Gege. We're taking it slow, remember?"

Xie Lian gave him an embarrassed smile and nested himself in Hua Cheng's arms, hiding his face in the crook of Hua Cheng's neck; Hua Cheng kept playing with Xie Lian's hair then cupped Xie Lian's face, lifting it so he could face him.

"You were all tense when I kissed you back there", he pointed to the door with his chin, "I don't wanna push you".

"It's not that", Xie Lian replied with a small voice.

"What is it, then?"

Xie Lian was silent for a while, as if deciding if he should say it. He asked, "Mind if I put that small light on?"

Hua Cheng shook his head, so Xie Lian lit the small lamp, filling the room with a soft yellow light, and sat back on his mattress, his back against the wall. Hua Cheng reclined, with one of his arms behind his head as before, as if he wasn't worried about what Xie Lian had to say the least.

Xie Lian started, "Remember that night at Qiandeng Temple, when you drank that stuff?"

Hua Cheng nodded. He continued, "The doctor told me to take you home, give you a cold shower and put you in bed". He paused. Hua Cheng just waited patiently for him to carry on.

"You know what it was, right? What it does?"

"Yes", Hua Cheng replied, and asked softly, "What happened?"

"As soon as we got to your place you pushed me against the door and kissed me. You pulled me into the shower with you, that's how I got all wet. And you..." he paused again, then concluded, "Pushed me in bed, kissed me and stuff". Then he quickly added, "We didn't. I mean, you know".

He looked mortified, his face burning like crazy. Hua Cheng simply asked, "Was it bad?"

"No", he replied, biting his lower lip in embarrassment, "It was good! Only... Ah San Lang, I felt horrible, like I took advantage of you".

Hua Cheng didn't say anything, just reached out to hold Xie Lian's hand.

"I understand", he said, then added, "But Gege, you know I've been in love with you since forever?"

"Hum", Xie Lian nodded.

"So", he continued, "You always ever had my consent. To do anything you wanted with me". He smiled at Xie Lian naughtily, now squeezing his hand in a very provocative and sexy way.

Xie Lian gave him a little smile and said, "Still, I didn't at the time".

Hua Cheng looked at him intently, and replied, "How about we do everything we did that night, only with me being sober?", he flashed a wicked smile.

Xie Lian smiled shyly, seeming to think of it; then slowly got off on his knees, dragging himself closer; lifting one of his legs over Hua Cheng, straddling him. Then he took his t-shirt off, smiling, and said, "It might be worth a try". He bent down to kiss Hua Cheng.
