warnings : mentions of death

Hikari was staring into the fire. It was large, crackling softly in the background, small red-orange sparks shot out of the blaze. If she looked harder into it, the surrounding air would turn hazy — almost producing a mirage of a sort, a fake image unattainable hope that she could only dream of.

She could hear her son playing with his toys distantly in the background. He was in the same room as her but it was like she wasn't there - a mere wisp of her former self. Truly, Minjun was the luckier of the two. He was still a child. He couldn't understand the depth of what had happened a few months previous, all he knew that his father and younger brother were gone - presumed dead. He could still feel the harsh absence of his dear family but his age prevented him from feeling it as deeply as his mother.

A tear slipped out of her eye. She loved her son of course but even he couldn't fill the lack of presence in their home. Logically, she knew that she shouldn't be expecting her young son to be able to do so, but grief can make a mother turn wild — logic was not something that she could currently properly act on.

Even so, she knew that after everything that had happened she would try her best to keep the bond between her and Minjun strong. She didn't want to lose him too, it would kill her.

Footsteps clicked softly in the grand hallway. A man was walking slowly to the room he knew his daughter and grandson would be in, it being her own childhood quarters.

His daughter was someone he could no longer recognise — understandable given the presumed death of her husband and youngest son, the poor child was only two... the world was a horrible place for taking his grandson away and he would try his best to seek justice for his child as president of Korea.

Given his high station, Min Siwoo could pretty much do anything to find the truth of their disappearance, in fact he was very close to it.

It was strange, really. All the clues lead to a mysterious figure hidden in the multiple shadows of Seoul's grungy alleyways. He was nowhere near to finding the name of this person, ever since he discovered his existence he had been lead through dead end after dead end. What made it worse was that there were only a trusted select few involved in the investigation including him - he wouldn't allow anyone to compromise his search.

He eventually reached the room, knocking gently on the door as he knew Hikari was most certainly out of it, not wanting to startle her. The door flung open and he was greeted with the bright eyes of his grandson, Minjun. No matter the current mood the sweet child could always be trusted to raise Siwoo's energy levels, especially with the depressing cloud that constantly floated across the large manor.
