After reaching the village, Connie could not find anybody and only one Titan is in his house paralyzed due to its body too small and weak to support the weight head. They continued to search for survivors but no one was found so far. Connie stopped looking for survivors and went back to where the paralyzed Titan is still lying on his house. Bertholdt and Reiner ran to him to get news from him.

Reiner: Connie! Are there any survivors?

Connie: No.

Reiner: Huh?

Connie: None at all. It is all over. My hometown. It is gone forever.

Tears of sadness began to leak out from Connie's eyes and he broke down. Reiner felt very sorry and put his hand on his shoulder to comfort him while gritting his teeth. Bertholdt was strangely and nervously staring at Reiner for some reason.

Gerger: Hey! Something's strange here.

Connie: Huh?

Reiner: What is it?

Gerger: Has anyone spotted any bodies?

Reiner: No. We couldn't find any. Not even a bone.

Bertholdt: I haven't either.

Gerger: How is that even possible? Titans come and not a single drop of blood-

Soldier 7: Everyone must have escaped! It means nobody here was eaten. Including your family.

Connie: I see. Yes! That's got to be it!

Soldier 7: Yes. It is unbelievable to think that Titans ate everyone without leaving blood behind.

Gerger (in his mind): It is not all that is unbelievable. If all the entire village was evacuated, why would Titans smash these houses with nobody in them? But what really boggles my mind is the stables. If they tried to escape without horses, their chances of survival would be slim.

Connie (in his mind): Mom...Dad. I hope I can find you! Please be alive!

Gerger: Everyone got their torches? Let's move! Our mission now is to locate and assess the Breach in the wall!

Reiner: Yes, sir!

Connie took a deep breath and followed the others without looking back at the paralyzed Titan still look at them from behind. The others got onto their horses and was leaving the village. Connie was about to leave but what he heard was shocking.

Titan: W-Welcome h-home.

His eyes were very wide as he slowly turned back to look at the paralyzed Titan with an unbelievable expression. The Titan as if was struggling to speak another word and Connie was still staring at it for another few seconds.

Connie: Just now...C-Could it be? N-No, that is i-impossible...

He was interrupted when Reiner grabbed his shoulder and shook him roughly waking him up from his trance. The sudden grip really frightened Connie.

Reiner: Connie, hurry up! We are falling behind Gerger!

Connie: Reiner? Did you hear that? The Titan-

Reiner: I did not hear anything at all. Enough with the chit-chat. Focus on the mission!

Connie: But it...I think...I don't know how, but...I think...My mom-

Reiner: Connie! Do you understand the situation we are in!? Hundreds of thousands of lives depend whether we complete this mission or not! Your family might have escaped but it is not over yet! If you are a soldier, put the mission first!
