Flames and Legacy

Chapter 2

I never thought it would end like this, I'd lost. I was on the ground, their sword pointing to my neck. I could see my axe sinking into the lava, there would be no recovering it.
Then they did something strange, they sheathed their sword. They smiled, offering a hand to help me up.
"That was a good fight."
Their tone indicated honesty, so I took their hand.

I thanked them once as I was on my feet.
"Thank you for your help."
They nodded, opening their mouth to speak.
"I-"
"But I won't give my trust so easily."
As I spoke I whipped my tail into their side. They were quick to react, drawing their blade.

Igniting the tip of my tail, I knew what to do to win. They attempted a swing at my side, but I'm faster. My tail smacked their hand, the heat causing them to drop their weapon, all before the sword could touch me.

They were holding their hand in pain when I ended the battle by kicking their sword into the lava.

They were clearly surprised, I'd just taken advantage of their generosity and disarmed them in under a minute. I could easily kill them, but I decided to give them the chance to live.
"Leave now, I don't want to see you here again."

They prepared to leave, still holding their hand in pain, asking me one question first.
"What's your name? I'm Mado."
I wasn't expecting to be asked that, but I don't see any harm in answering.
"Pyre. My name is Pyre."

They walked away, defeated, and I knew I was safe now. Well... As safe as you can be in the Nether.
