"Eloise, Martha! Come on, it's time to go!"
Edwin shouted cheerfully, packing the last of the bags into the back of the car. Eloise came running out excitedly, jumping up and down, her braided pigtails bouncing with her. "Daddy, daddy! I'm so excited! I can't believe you're taking us to the beach!" She said excitedly. Edwin chuckled and knelt down, patting her head. "I'm excited that you're excited, babydoll! Now, let's get you strapped into your car seat." He hummed, picking her up and buckling her up into her car seat, smiling and pressing a kiss against her forehead.

Martha came out of the house, locking the door behind her, looking at her husband and daughter with a smile. "Alrighty! Let's hit the road!" She said, walking over and pressing a kiss against Edwin's cheek. Soon, the family was on the road, happily singing songs and talking. "Daddy, what are we gonna do when we get there?" Eloise asked, looking at her father curiously. He hummed and kept his eyes on the road. "Well, honey, first.. we're gonna get a hotel and go get something to eat! After that, we'll go back to the hotel, rest, and go to the beach bright and early in the morning!" He said cheerfully. "Ooh, honey.. that sounds so lovely." Martha said, reaching a hand over and gently holding her husbands free hand. He smiled. "Only the best for my girls." He said softly.

Everything was perfect.

But then, there was the sound of tires screeching, Eloise screaming, and then darkness. When he woke up, he was in a hospital bed with few injuries and a concussion. He gasped, sitting up quickly, looking at the nurse. "Ma'am.. where is my wife and daughter?!" He said, panic in his eyes. The nurse walked over and gently helped him lay down again. "Sir... I'm sorry but..."

His world crashed down. This couldn't be happening, this was just a sick dream. They were just in the car, happy and talking. His daughter was right there, his wife was right next to him. What happened? The next few days he was in the hospital, having to hear about funeral plans from family and people giving him condolences. He didn't react. He wasn't happy anymore. How could he? His two beloveds were gone. Going back to work, he didn't speak to his coworkers, just sitting at his desk quietly. He works and owns a mortuary, embalming body's almost daily and making sure they're prepared for the funeral service.

It was late, and his employees left to let him do night shift. He got up and made his way to the back where the bodies were stored, not looking at the name on the door. He opened it and froze, staring at the body in front of him. It was the deceased and broken body of Martha. He wasn't prepared for this. Who could ever be prepared for something so fucked up? He felt rage build up in his stomach, balking his fists up and screaming at the top of his lungs, knocking things over and tearing stuff apart. He buried his face into his hands, breathing heavily. He blamed himself. In his mind, this is all his fault. He noticed the door right next to Martha's, his heart nearly stopping. He didn't dare open it. He knew who it was behind that door. The nameplate on the door read 'Eloise Blythe'. He just backed up and sat on the ground, looking down at the floor as tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Why? Why them..?" He asked himself, shivering. "Why couldn't it of been me?"

This incident caused him to spiral into a violent addiction to drugs and alcohol. He was fucking himself up for a year until his family forced him to go to rehab. He sobered up, but he was never the same. He walked down an alley way, staring down at his sobriety coin before a homeless man stopped him in his tracks.

"Sir, do you have any change on you? Anything at all?" The man asked. It was at this moment, Edwin felt a burst of rage, euphoria, and violence bubble up in his stomach. Next thing he knew, he was standing there with blood on his hands and the horribly beaten body of the homeless man laying dead in front of him.

This is the birth of a monster.
