(SEREN'S POV)
The night was cold and the sound of busy people was in the distance. I stood on the border-line of Liriessa (Pronounced Leari-essa), surrounded by many people in black. Kenna walked up next to me.
"Alright. You know what we have to do. No messing around. That means you Wither." A grey-headed boy whipped his head around, giving Kenna a glare. She didn't notice and pulled her hood up. Everyone followed. We began scaling trees before jumping from one to another. For someone passing by we might've thought we were Rocs (Large birds), hoping to find something to feast upon. The sound of people was getting closer with every tree we over-took. Kenna suddenly came to a stop, stopping everyone behind. She shook her head with a sigh as I crawled up next to her after hopping into her tree.
"Be careful, now. We are in the land of the 'Saint-like'." Kenna hissed under her breath. I nodded silently. We jumped from the tree to the tiled ground of the higher-beings. They were rich, snobbish folk who had money because of their status. The 'Saint-like's' were filled with different creatures from all over Pythiya: Elves, Shape-Shifters, Were-wolves, Vampires, Witches, Wizards, Ferals (Half dragon half human creatures) and even Humans. I had no idea why they were there. It made no sense. There were so many creatures that would've murdered the Humans on sight but....I guess they're all too up in themselves to care. We began advancing into Liriessa, when we were met with a three-way street all seeming to head the same way. Towards the castle. Kenna, Wither and I went down the left, Gwanda and Opil went down the middle while everyone else went down the right (There were four of them, I'm just too lazy to remember their names). Kenna was in the lead, while Wither and I snuck in the back.
"Do you think she's pissed or just really focused?" He asked me in a whisper. I shrugged before answering.
"How should I fucking know? She's always like that on missions." I replied in another whisper. He nodded silently before talking again.
"Maybe someone pisses her off all the time before missions...."
"Yeah! You!" We both looked forward, our stances straight as poles. Kenna had heard our conversation and had turned around. She turned back around and continued walking. We slowly followed her, quietly. The palace was becoming closer in view as the alley-way connected with the two other paths we had seen before. Gwanda and Opil appeared first, Opil's aura brighter than before. Shaleen and the others appeared a couple of moments after (Shaleen was one of the four I was thinking of their names before, she's a ghost). Kenna spoke.
"Okay, look, everyone knows why we're here right?" Everyone nodded, except Wither. Kenna took a long, deep breath in.
"We're here because we need to murder Queen Azalia and Princess Thyst." Wither made a silent 'Ah' then he frowned again. Kenna pinched the bridge of her nose.
"What is it, Wither?" She asked.
"Um, what about King Endure?"
"Kings have no status! We've already talked about this! They're just fuck machines to get new heirs." Kenna hissed, "Seren, go up ahead. Scout the area and come back to me." I nodded but as I was about to leave, someone grabbed my wrist. It was Shaleen.
"Come back, okay?" I was stunned for a moment. Shaleen smiled slightly before placing a feather-light kiss on my knuckles, she winked. The moment finally sunk in and I nodded once more. I began slowly walking, thoughts running in my head. Shaleen usually was like that when one of us went up ahead alone but she wouldn't do that. It shocked me. I shook my head lightly, clearing my head. A few guards were surrounding the gates to the palace but Opil could control them easily. I noted how many there were and headed back. I dropped from a roof-top to where the others were waiting for me. Kenna and Wither were arguing again.
"Because you never listen! You need to listen if you don't want to die!"
"If you didn't talk so fast or the stuff I'm meant to be listening to wasn't boring I would listen!" Opil, Shaleen, Gwanda and the others watched them in interest. I rolled my eyes and sighed. Opil made I contact with me and we shared a thought.
"Alright, that's enough you two." She said, raising her hand. A light emitted from her hand and both of them were thrown away from each other. Wither let out a hiss as he regained his balance, while Kenna cleared her throat and dusted herself off.
"Your right. Seren, how many guards?" She asked.
"Only 17." I reported.
"17?" Kenna repeated, I nodded. She frowned, in thought, "Oh well. Looks like it's going to be easy tonight." We began walking again, making our way through the large alley-way. Kenna in the lead, Wither, Shaleen, the others and I in the middle and Opil and Gwanda in the back. We made it into the castle without alerting the guards (Opil was disappointed at the fact that she couldn't do anything to the guards) and we continued on. Conveniently, Princess Thyst, Queen Azalia and King Endure were in the throne room. Alone. We split up again, surrounding the unexpecting royals. I knew there was a thought in the back of my mind telling me that this was just too....easy. It just felt like they knew we were there. Kenna suddenly jumped out, everyone followed. The royals looked concerned for a moment, then King Endure spoke.
"What are you doing here? A-" His sentence was cut short with a sickening snap. Opil was behind him, looking up innocently at his revoltingly twisted head, turned all the way around. He fell to the ground, Opil smiling as he fell. His daughter and wife stepped back in shock. Kenna walked up to Queen Azalia.
"Was he really that important to you?" She asked, a dagger twisting in her hand. I approched Princess Thyst quietly, taking shape of her mother.
"I wonder if you can tell the difference between a fake and your real mother." Kenna asked the princess as she turned around, her face going pale. I was next to Queen Azalia, in her form. Let's see if she can tell the difference.
"Let's play a game shall we?" Opil asked as Wither, Gwanda and Shaleen came up closer.
"Oh yes! What game?" Kenna asked her, a cunning grin on her face.
"How about the princess here, has to guess who her mother is and the one she doesn't choose dies?" Gwanda suggested. Everyone nodded in agreement. "Great! So, go on Princess. Take your guess." Princess Thyst looked between her mother and I, purely scared. She suddenly pointed to me.
"That one! That's my mother!" She shut her eyes tight as the real Queen Azalia pleaded.
"Dear! I'm your mother! Not that-" Again, her sentence was cut short. Gwanda's hand straight through her chest, blood pouring down the pearly white dress she had on. Princess Thyst made a choking sob sound and fell to the floor in a pool of tears. We came around her, staring at her blankly.
"Just e-end me....please.." Thyst pleaded through her sobs. Everyone grinned.
"Gladly." I replied. Shaleen possessed her, making the princess twist in all sorts of disturbing ways before letting the body fall limply next to the other dead royals.
