Modern day Philadelphia

Villandra sat in her bed rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She stared at the wall of her small studio apartment, wondering if she should go into woke today.

"God I hate my life." She said to herself as she stood up and walked to the bathroom. After stripping her clothes off, she grabbed her toothbrush and hopped into the shower. When she washed the shampoo from her hair, the water suddenly turned cold.

"Dammit, what else can go wrong?" She groaned

Not a stranger to hard times, Villandra continued with her shower. Letting the conditioner sit, she started brushing her teeth. Then something did go wrong. The water turned off all together.

"Really? Just when I thought I would have a good day." She squinted her eyes as she reached for a towel to wipe the conditioner from her forehead and eyes. Toothbrush still in her mouth she looked around her bathroom for a solution. Then she found one, looking at the toilet. She gulped and took a deep breath. The water in the tank is still considered clean, right? The hell with it she thought. Walking to the kitchen, she grabbed a mug she found on the counter. Taking a sniff she was happy to find the mug clean. Walking back to the toilet, she took off the lid and looked into the tank. There was a yellow residue rimming the water in the tank, but the water itself seemed clean enough. This is what happens when you don't pay the bills. Unfortunately, Villandra has a bad habit of not paying her bills on time.

Putting her toothbrush on the sink, she grabbed the mug.

"We'll.... I guess I've done worse things" she said as she quickly rinse her mouth, then her hair. When she finished she got dressed in a loose t-shirt and skinny jeans and left for work.

Walking down Kensington ave, she kept her eyes straight with a pepper spay in one hand. She had seen enough of these streets to know that it's definitely not the safest place in the world. Everywhere you look, there was poverty and crime. Even the business owners seem to be doing something illegal. It was still morning and already you can see prostitutes or as we call them, hookers, lining the streets. Ranging from their early teens to women in their late 40s. Every few minutes you would see a crackhead sitting on someone's steps. The subway tracks that ran above the streets of Kensington ave gave the area a gloomy feel. It blocked the sun from ever touching the street. Being a white girl in this neighborhood, You were either white trash or a narc. So people never really bothered her too much.

Reaching a small grocery store called R & W, she entered.

" You're late." Stated the store owner's son.

Jiyong is a young Korean man in his 20s. He is very slender with a boyishly handsome face. He was probably the only person she really got along with at work. When his parents aren't there, he runs the store. Unlike his father, he always treats everyone kind and fair.

" Yeah I know. My water shut off on me while I was showing."

" Thats understandable Villy ..." He said using her nickname that only her friends were allow to use. "... but my dad is here today. He noticed that you weren't here and you know how he can get." He looked at her with sympathy.

Jiyong's father walked up to them as if on cue.

"Why you not here on time?" He said in his broken english with a Korean accent. You 30 minute late."

Unlike his son, Suho was not the least bit attractive. Although, he thought that he was god's gift to earth. He was a short fat man that always looked greasy and dirty. He was also very perverted, that it made everyone uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that included customers. He never wasted a chance to sexually harass when his son and especially his wife wasn't around to hear.
