Come Back To Me

(CHAPTER 1)

Today is one of the days when the sunset looks prettier than usual and most families aren't going to miss the opportunity. They either spend their time admiring the view at the beach or their favorite spot at the park. But this is not the case for a certain creation at the refuge. Baron Humbert Von Gikkingen is a little too lost to notice such beauty of nature. He's too preoccupied with the thought of a brunette girl. The memory of her shiny brown eyes reflecting the sunlight sent tingles down his body.
He knew better than to dwell on something like this. But he couldn't help it, he's still a man, and one cannot help but fall in love when the time is right.

"He's been staring at that vase for 5 minutes already.." Muta groaned quietly while peeking through the window. His furry ears twitched right now and then, showing an obvious sign of curiosity towards the odd situation.

"No wonder fatso, he must be upset about how you messed up the cake he made for Haru last week! And lowers your head more you idiot, he will notice us!" Toto said to his chunky frienemies, bending down enough to conceal himself from being seen by Baron.

"Oh yeah?! You wanna say that again birdbrain-" While both Muta and Toto are busy cursing at each other, they haven't noticed that their good friend has gotten up from his favorite chair and is in the process of making tea.

Nothing too weird about it generally.

Except for one.

Suddenly, their daily argument is interrupted by a faint sound of a breaking cup. A teacup to be precise.

Baron is a simple man. He loves his books and his set of teacups. Nothing more or less. But why would he let one of the cups "slip out" from his grasp easily?

Those who truly know Baron will acknowledge that whatever running around his mind is not just "some" problem.
But a big fat problem.
Because Baron has never been this careless before.

"Baron...what's wrong with you?" Muta burst into the green vintage-looking house through the main doors.

Toto follows shortly after Muta but through the usual window on the second floor of the house. The black crow creation looks down at Baron worriedly. Toto couldn't get a hold of the situation yet since he cannot read Baron's expression well.
Baron is also awfully quiet which doesn't make this easy at all. He usually scolds Muta for bursting violently into the house but now, it's all just silence.

"Ah, nothing...My hand is a bit slippery.." Baron straightened his back while clearing his throat.

"Baron..you wore gloves..you put anti-slippery magic on them when you buy them..remember?" Toto sighs a bit, refusing to believe that Baron is such a terrible liar.

"Birdbrain is right..you said to me it's for safety reasons." Muta frowned while crossing his big arms, tapping his foot on the floor impatiently.

This leaves Baron speechless. He curses himself for telling the worst excuse possible. When he's about to open his mouth to defend himself, Muta beats him to it first.

"It's about Chicky...isn't it?"
