Sunlight peaked into an apartment building from behind closed curtains. A ray of light reached the edge of a rather large bed, and barely missed the closed eyes of a slumbering hedgehog. Beyond the bed, sitting in a corner, a bookshelf towered over the rest of the furniture in the room, and housed many worn out books. Next to the shelf was a door that let into an average looking kitchen. In the opposite corner, a table was located, with a potted plant resting on top of it, along with a plain brown belt and bandana, and a pair of futuristic gloves. At the foot of the door that led to the hall, a pair of equally futuristic boots sat.

A nightstand with an alarm clock on top was next to the bed. Neon green numbers flashed the time on the screen while a horn blared through the apartment, signifying it was time for the hedgehog to start his day. Golden eyes glared at the thing from under a pillow, with visible irritation radiating off them. Suddenly, the clock was coated in a cyan hue, and was then tossed across the room.

With a sigh of contentment, the hedgehog buried his head and pillow under the warm and comfortable blankets of his bed. He wasn't ready to leave the welcoming embrace of his comforters, and was having the most wonderful dream before his slumber was interrupted. He was just about to fall back to sleep, but a knock on the door dashed any such hope.

"Silver!" A female voice came from the other end of his door, "Time to get up, bed bug." Out of annoyance of his sleep being disturbed once again, a pillow, coated in the same cyan as before, was thrown against the door. "Oh! I see how it's going to be!" Her agitated voice, and the shaking of the doorknob was all Silver needed to leap out of bed. Sleep is overrated anyways, he thought.

"Fine!" he called back, still a little groggy, and exhaustion evident in his voice, "I'm up, Rayne."

"You better be." Rayne said, her tone now carried by a cheery, playful attitude, "I'll be waiting for you to get ready, so don't even think about going back to sleep, mister."

Silver rolled his eyes and sighed as he hovered over to his table. A light greenish-blue hue covered his body as he glanced at the light switch on the wall. It flicked up, covered in the same color as him, and the lights in his room turned on. Then, he looked back to his gloves and slipped them onto his hands.

"Is there going to be a storm today?" He asked as he made his way over to his boots.

"James said there will be." the cheery voice replied, "But you know how that goes. I wouldn't be surprised if it started raining frogs, just because he's the one to predict the weather." Silver chuckled. James was one of the humans in the camp, and was studying meteorology. It was difficult for him, with text books on the subject being hard to come by, but he did his best. He was right most of the time, so the other residents relied on him for the weather. The white hedgehog made sure to grab his bandana before he stepped out to greet his friend.

Rayne, another hedgehog with gold frosted quills pulled back into a neat ponytail, met him at the door. Her fur was an appealing sandy color, that reminded Silver of the beaches of Soleanna City in the past. Her eyes were a bubbly, bright blue, but she always kept one hidden behind her quills. A long, brown, quilted scarf hung around her neck, and down to her waist. A dark blue tank top covered the upper portion of her body, and a pair of black jeans covered the lower half. On top of her head, neon green sports glasses rested.

"'Bout time~" Rayne snickered as her tired friend walked out. She knew Silver liked to sleep in a lot ever since he stopped Iblis, and she couldn't fault him for that. It was because of him that they didn't have to live in a world covered in lava and fire anymore. But she still made sure to wake him up on time, as there was always work to be done. "I thought you'd never wake up. Come on, we need to get the solar panels covered before it starts raining."
