Chapter 2 - Boy or Girl?

Today was the day we found out the gender of our 6th child. We took all five kids. As we all got into the car, I turned on my camera.

'Hey guys! Today we're finding out the gender of this little one!' I began as I pointed the camera towards Colette's belly. 'What do we want it to be, kids?'

'A girl!' Avia and Emmi yelled from the back of the van.

'I don't care. As long as they are healthy and bring joy to our family.' Gavin said.

'Awwww! That's beautiful, Gav!' Colette smiled.

'What about you Brock?' I ask.

I got no answer.

'He's asleep.' Colette informed.

We arrived in the room where we would find out whether we were having a boy or a girl.

'Congratulations, Shay and Colette!' the doctor began, 'You are having a little baby girl!'

Colette broke down into tears. I hugged her tight.

'I'm so happy!' Colette laughed through her tears of happiness.

'Yay!' Avia and Emmi both cheered.

'I can't wait! You'll finally stop putting make-up on Dax.' I joked.

The drive home consisted of chatter and laughter as we discussed how fun it will be when we have the baby.

We were sitting at the dinner table when I remembered that it was Avia's birthday tomorrow.

'Someone's turning 10 tomorrow!' I hinted.

'It's my birthday! It's my birthday! It's my birthday!' Avia chanted.

'Ugh. Why do you mention her birthday, dad? You've just raised the obnoxious bar to the max.' Gavin laughed.

Which made Colette laugh.

Which made Emmi laugh.

Which made Avia laugh.

Which made Brock laugh.

Which made me laugh.

We all collapsed into a fit of laughter at the dinner table. Besides Daxton. He just sat there oblivious to what was going on.
