It's close enough to Friday

Y/n woke up with a groan. Her head ached, and her leg throbbed. She tried to move her arms, but it was no use. They were tied.

"You finally up?" Someone asked.

It took Y/n a moment to recognize the voice, but it eventually registered.

"Taabe...?" Y/n couldn't believe it.

"That's me," he laughed dryly, before his smile dropped, "I have a few questions for you."

Even though the situation was dire, and they needed to get out of there, she knew what questions he would ask, and she didn't want to answer them now. "Can't it wait until later?"

"It could-" Taabe was cut off by screaming and gunshots.

It was here...

One of the French men had dropped a knife during their battle with the beast.

"Get down," she told her brother, who did just that. Y/n was able to get the knife closer with her foot. She grabbed the knife and was able to cut the rope tying them together. Once free, Taabe dragged Y/n away from the battle field.

"I'm going to go get a horse, do what you can, and don't get killed until I ask you those questions," he told, before running off after where the horses had gone. Y/n sighed, but it was cut short as a mechanical whine hit the air as 10's of men were killed from some device, leaving her, and the monster on the other sides of the battle field.

Y/n looked around, and formulated a plan. She knew she had the beast's attention, and so she ran once more, the foreign monster following after her at a slower pace than before.

Y/n had enough time to run into the forest where she knew was a big, steep, tall cliff. She had a few minutes to prepare a few things, before she heard it. The clicking noise.

The young woman turned around slowly, to see the tall thing. It uncloaked itself, revealing itself to her. Y/n just stood there, breathing heavily, heart racing. She stood at the edge of the cliff. The monster started to quickly stalk towards her until there was no more than 5 feet between them.

He drew his twin blades that were in his wrist gauntlet, hoping to draw more fear from the female, to which he succeeded. She let out a quiet breath. Before hearing a galloping behind him.

As the Alien turned around, he didn't have much time to react before Taabe, on horseback, took a club and whacked the tall monster as hard as he could.

Successfully sending him over the edge.

Y/n let out a sigh of relief. "Good plan," her brother praised, "You should have done your Kühtaamia."

Y/n shook it off and walked over to where he was still on the horse, "I don't care," she breathed, "Let's go find Naru, then go home."

Her brother frowned at her not caring much about their victory, but he also understood that it had been a long few days for his younger sister. Therefore, he stuck his hand out, helping her onto the horse behind him.

Y/n wrapped her arms around her brother's torso securely. Once on the horse, he yanked the reigns, beckoning it to move forward and start looking for Naru.

It took a few hours to find the last sibling, so Taabe took this time to question Y/n.

"It's later," he started, "So where did you and Naru go?"

Y/n made a noise of annoyance, but reluctantly answered, "We went on an adventure."

"This is what you'd call an adventure?"

"No, this is what I'd call almost dying," Y/n responded sarcastically, "Naru wanted to hunt, and I just went along..."

Taabe hummed, "Well you both had me and Pia worried," he huffed.

"Now you know how it feels," Y/n retorted, slightly surprising her brother.

"What?"

"Don't you get it now, Taabe?" Y/n spoke, "You and Naru always come back hurt or injured after putting yourself in danger! It makes me worry!"

The Hunter was silent. He had felt great worry when his two younger siblings disappeared, and he had immediately gone to search for them. This was how Y/n felt constantly.

"I'm sorry," the Comanche male apologized, "I didn't know you worried about us this much."

"Well now you do," Y/n huffed.

Most of the time was silent, except when they'd call out for Naru. After 3 hours of searching, they found the youngest sibling.

"Naru!" Taabe had called when he saw his youngest sister, who flinched before looking at him on the horse.

"Taabe? Y/n? What happened to you both? Where the thing?" Naru had asked.

"Y/n defeated it," Taabe explained, not mentioning how he helped at all in the killing of the beast.

"Oh..." was Naru's simple answer.

Y/n helped Naru onto the horse behind her, and they all began their way back to their tribe.

The ride back was both peaceful, and a new type of awkward. It wasn't an embarrassing awkward, but more of an upset type. So no one said anything.

Once back in the tribe, people gathered around. Some had found the bodies of their men, and were worried. Aruka was one of the first out at the sound of commotion. She ran over to her three children, and gave them all a smile. They were alive.

"Pia," Taabe was the first to greet.

"My son, my daughters, your all okay," she croaked in relief and happiness.

Aruka took a better look at her children, and found them all to be very bloody and bruised. She quickly ushered them into their hut where she fixed up her youngest and oldest, and Y/n tended to some of her own wounds.

Y/n hesitated when she had finished all of her cuts and what not on her upper body and had to move onto her shin. She took a deep breath before peeling her boot off and wincing. Her body tensed and her breath hitch as the days worth of adrenaline died and the pain of her almost infect injury took over her system.

She tried to fix it herself, but only ended up making her deep wound worse. She hissed, and sat there for a moment with her eyes closed. She felt something brush past her, and opened her eyes to see her brother sitting in front of her.

Taabe motioned to the bad, deep, cut on her shin, "May I?" He asked.

Y/n reluctantly nodded, handing him the stuff he'd need to patch it up. "Might be better if you lay down. I feel like you'd be less likely to hurt me," he laughed.

Y/n did as suggested and laid down on her back, letting Taabe do his thing. He filled the wound with medicine, making Y/n's whole body as tense as a rock. Then, he gently wrapped a healing leaf around the wound, finally finishing it off with wrapping and tying leather around it so the leaf wouldn't come off.

"Might want to let that heal for a while," he shrugged, as Y/n took a deep breath. She'd let the injury take its time healing.

And that's just what she did.
