"Look Matt I get you're helping her and trying to be her friend, but you can't be sneaking around with her." Mom tells me as she stands in the door frame.

"I haven't been. I just went to take a breather and she was there. She said I made her happy which is good!" I reply.

"And I get that. But no more seeing her. Have you heard the way she talks to her mother." She says, "She only talks like that because her mom treats her like shit!" I defend, "And I realize that Matthew, but I don't want her bad habits brushing off on you." she replies.

"They won't brush off on me mom." I state, "You don't know that!" Mom replies, "But I do mom! She's a good girl, she's nice and smart, she just deserves a good mom." I state.

"See this is why I don't want you hanging out with her. You're gonna catch feelings and I don't want you dating her." she tells me.

I surely was not catching feelings for Aria. I just think she deserves better and I wanna be the one to help her.

"I'm not going to catch feelings for her, nor would I date her. Her parents would be pissed." I reply, "And so would I, so no. It will not happen. Stop meeting up with her." she says before leaving my room.

It had only been last night that I saw Aria and I thought it would be nice to tell mom about it. I didn't know that's how she'd react. Even she told Aria that she could help. And why wouldn't I be able to date Aria? I mean, not that I want to but why not? She's a good person and she's actually caring and sweet when she's not with her asshole of a mom and dad.

"Matt why did you order so much food?" Chris laughs as I get handed mine and Aria's food.

"I'm just hungry." I shrug.

Mom drives us home and I bolt to my room.

"YO MATT!" Nick and Chris call after me, "SORRY I HAVE TO DO SOME EDITING!" I shout back, locking my door and turning towards my window.

I climb out, being careful to not drop any food or smush any.

I walk back into the garden, hoping Aria was there or that she hadn't thought I ditched her.

"OH BACKYARD GIRL!" I call out, "MATT!" I hear her exclaim.

I begin to walk faster the same way I went yesterday and low and behold, sat Aria Josslyn with a smile on her face.

"I brought you your chick fil a." I state.

"Jesus fuck shit Matt you scared my bowling pins!" she says in fright, I laugh as I reply.

"What did you just say."

"You scared me is what I said." She clarifies.

"Oh ok." I laugh as I sit down next to her.

"So I got you a fried chicken sandwich and then I got myself some of the fried nuggets which you can try some. I also got a large waffle fry that we can share and then the mac and cheese." I inform her, pulling out the food.

"Thank you Matt." she smiles, leaning over to hug me.

"Of course. I can't have you missing out on Chick Fil A!" I reply.

"What's Chick Fil A sauce?" she asks, holding the small sauce in her palm.

"I'm not sure, it's like their signature sauce." I answer, "Cool." she replies as she opens her chicken sandwich bag.

"What are you watching me for, creep?" she says, "I wanna see your reaction when you taste how good it is." I answer.

"I don't feel comfortable with you watching me eat." she giggles, "What do ya want me to cover my eyes or something?" I ask.

"Oh my God, you're Boston accent is so adorable." she smiles, "WHAT BOSTON ACCENT?" I ask, "When you said 'what do you want me to cover my eyes or something' when you said you it came out more Boston-y than American." she clarifies.

"People always tell me I have a Boston accent but I never hear it." I say as she takes a bite of her sandwich.

I watch as her facial expression widens.

"Holy shit that's good!" she says, "Right! Just wait until you try Burger King." I reply.

"I can get that on my own, I don't need you buying me dinner every night." She states, "Speaking of dinner. What did you have?" I ask.

"Salad, again." she rolls her eyes.

"Don't you ever get tired of salad?" I ask, "Yes. I fucking hate that shit. I've had it so much it takes like dog shit to me." she answers.

"Yeah I will definitely be bringing you dinner every now and again." I laugh.

"How was your mom okay with that?" she laughs, "Oh yeah. So I told her earlier about it and she basically doesn't want me sneaking around to hang out with you because she thinks I'm gonna catch feelings and then she thinks we're gonna date and she doesn't want me dating you and it's a big thing. So technically, they all think I'm in my room editing right now and they don't know I'm with you because I'm not exactly supposed to be with you." I reply quickly.

"Oh so and I'm the bad girl." she says, "What? I promised you Chick Fil A tonight! And I said we'd meet up here every night and I'm not one to lie." I reply.

"You lied when you said you have to get me food I've never tried before." she reasons, "That's not a lie. I like have to or I won't be satisfied with myself." I reply.

"Yeah? And why not?" she asks.

"How am I supposed to live, knowing my backyard girl has never had any of the good stuff." I answer.

"WOAHHH." She replies, putting her hands out. "Not like that you idiot." I reply, flicking her forehead.

"Hey I got all A's in school, I am not an idiot." She says, rubbing her forehead, "I know. You were like the popular nerd girl." I joke.

"I am not a nerd!" she exclaims, "Yes you are. Didn't you wear glasses in like middle school and then you had braces in 8th grade! That's a nerd if I've ever seen one." I reason.

"How do you remember what grade I had braces in? I don't even remember and I'm the one who had em." she laughs.

"I'm an observer." I nod my head, "I can tell." she replies, smiling as she finishes up her food.

"Okay now you have to try a chicken nugget." I say, putting the container in front of her.

"Try one with the sauce and one by itself." I add.

She dips a nugget into the sauce then eats it. I could tell she liked it just as much as she liked the sandwich.

"Thank you Matt, for all of this." she says, packing up her trash, "Of course Aria. I want you to have at least a decent life." I reply.

"That's nice of you. Especially since it's like forbidden to see each other. I'm glad you're like breaking the rules just for me." she says, "What can I say, I'm your backyard boy." I laugh.

"And I'm glad to be your backyard girl." she says with a smile as she hugs me.
