𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐨'𝐬 𝐏𝐎𝐕
I was awake downstairs making breakfast, I noticed Kasei leave as I was coming downstairs this morning but thought nothing of it till Liam came rushing downstairs and frantically asking me where Kasei was.
I told him I saw Kasei leave this morning before asking why. He told me about last night and since I didn't want Liam to worry I told him I would take care of it.
I saw a sense of relief and gratitude wash over his face and he hugged me which I leaned into. I only wanted to see him happy and his hugs were always amazing, I would hold him as tightly as I could before I had to let him go, always craving for more.
I then made it my task to find Kasei all day and see what was going on but man was it like a find waldo page on expert mode. No matter where I looked I couldn't find him and when I did I got buried in some task to do.
It was late before I actually had the chance to talk to him, I told him I wanted to walk with him. It took a bit of convincing but at some point I did, we walked to the park and sat down at this bench near some lights.
I could see he was cold so I offered him my jacket, taking that opportunity to study him. Of course, Liam was right, his movements seems so much weaker and it's like the light that I saw in his eyes when we had first met was put out.
I held his sleeve which confused him but I made sure to hold on tightly; "don't run," I began and although it just confused him more he slowly relaxed and I let go of him, he knew it was serious but I don't think he knew it was about him.
I leaned back on the bench and looked at him lovingly, "I know something's going on, and I knows it's scary but your now apart of our family and we are worried about you," I began, I could see him tense up and quickly start shutting down.
Before he could get up to walk away I grabbed onto him which obviously set something off in his brain because he wacked my hand away and turned to me angrily. "Stop it, why can't you guys just believe me, I said I'm fine!" He yelled.
I slowly shook my head, "it's okay to not be fine, we're only trying to be here for you," I said, maintaining a soft tone and reaching for his hand again but he stepped back.
His anger grew, "you've known me for maybe a day and your saying you care, why? It's not like anything is wrong I said I'm fine," he said, his tone was harsh and his eyes were like daggers.
I gulped a bit, starting to raise my voice a bit but still letting him know that we did care, "everyone in the butterfly house is family, we are the only family some of us got," I blurted.
That must have struck something in him because all of a sudden he went quiet and stared. I reached for his hand and this time he let me hold it, "some of us have been disowned or may have not had a family that cared about us enough so everyone in that house is family and that does include you Kasei; so if something is wrong please tell us," I said desperately.
He gulped hard and I watched as the anger slowly melted into fear and hurt, "I can't," he said, his voice cracking a little. I didn't know what reason he had behind it but I pulled him into a hug, he didn't hug back just kinda leaned into.
"I don't know why you can't tell us but we are here to support and protect you, please, I know it's hard to put your trust in strangers but you will learn to think of us as family so don't push us away." I said, he nodded and I let him go from the hugs wiping his tears softly.
After that, although Kasei was going through something he still spent a lot of time with us. He was still of course distant but he was really becoming family.
A couple weeks later he had gotten comfortable and we started to go have daily late night talks at the park, even if it wasn't something serious it was kind of like our bonding time.
It meant a lot to me and and it seemed like a lot to him because whenever we talked he seemed to let his guard down and let me a little closer everyday.
Within the few past weeks I started learning so much about him, his favorite food is fried shrimp, he has two little siblings, he prefers dogs over cats and much more. Not big things but hey, it's a step isn't it?
One night though when we returned home we heard laughter in the living room. We walked in and saw everyone sitting on the couch, we had two extra people in our house, a girl named Ella and some guy I didn't recognize sitting close to Liam.
A freakishly tall man with black hair was sitting really close to Liam. He stood up and politely greeted us while shaking our hands, apparently his name was Issac.
Kasei introduced himself before I spoke, "my name is Kaito," I said, watching Liam walk up beside him and intertwine his delicate fingers with this giants fingers.
As soon as I saw that and the way Liam was gazing at Issac everything seemed to click into place, I felt my heart sink and I could see Kasei quickly look at me worriedly, I had to put on a act so that I didn't ruin the moment.
I had to smile and pretend everything was fine, it was obvious everyone else likes him so it would be selfish of me to get sad or angry, I need to stay happy, so I did.
