A Fallout Story...

  -(×)-

War... war never changes...

The world is torn and scarred; a shell of the strife that plagued it. 200 years ago humanity was on the brink of total atomic annihilation. With a flex of a finger... the bombs dropped.

Fire... fire everywhere... all encompassing.

Yet through it all we emerged. But we did not come back to the universe as peaceful. No.

It was pure hell.

Lawlessness spread like a plague, radiation infected everything it touched, and survival? Survival became a daily struggle. Faced with these problems, organizations formed. Some dedicated to the betterment of mankind and some not. In the year 2189, the New California Republic was created. The embodiment of Old World laws, practices, and customs is what inspired this government.

As they grew, so did their ambitions. The NCR expanded east, seeking an abundance of resources and land. The conquest took them many places. One such being the arid Mojave Desert of Nevada. However, with this expansionist culture came an onslaught of enemies who pinned the NCR as corrupt and unjust. Naive in the belief they could restore the way things once were.

Deploying their armies, the NCR came to blows with a faction known as the Legion. Led by a man named Caesar, they harbored an obsessession with Roman culture and ideology. Slave camps, crucifixion's, and torture are just a few of their 'operations'. The two groups came to blows at the first battle of Hoover Dam in 2277. The Dam was a pristine relic of the Old World, untouched by cataclysm.

Both armies fought tooth and nail over the single most important piece of territory in the state. Barely, the NCR managed to drive back the Legion, securing and harnessing the dam to supply the New Vegas Strip and NCR territories with electricity.

Four years passed and the Legion consolidated their strength in their hill fort across Lake Mead. Meanwhile, the NCR were stretching themselves thin. A dwindling number of supplies and attacks from raider gangs had the republic constantly on the back foot.

The revitalization of the conflict was reborn when a Courier, hired by the Mojave Express, was shot in the head while delivering a package to the Strip. An event as simple as this kickstarted one of the bloodiest conflicts in American history.

It all came to a crescendo when NCR President Kimball visited the dam to make a speech to hundreds of troopers and civilians. The Legion, seeing an opportunity to tear the enemy down, made an attempt on his life. Fortunately, thanks to the quick wit of the Courier, he was saved and evacuated immediately. Caesar attacked again during the chaos.

The second battle of Hoover Dam was long and bloody.

The Legion's relentless aggression had almost sealed the NCR's fate in the early morning hours. But with the Courier's assistance, they pushed back Caesar's army and slew his top commanding officer.
