It was a little after eight in the evening when Lindsey pushed open the front door, only to be greeted immediately by the sound of music floating through the air.

Smirking softly, he kicked his shoes off, slipped out of his jacket and followed the noise.

There was a classic vinyl spinning in the living room, but he found her in the kitchen, swaying back and forth as she worked on dinner.

With a light smile trailing across his face, Lindsey sank into the doorframe as his eyes followed her around the room.

She had her blonde hair pulled back into a clip, a long flowing, silk black dress clinging to her hips and absolutely no makeup.

He took a moment to admire her and then he decided to creep through the room, slipping his hands around her waist from behind.

Stevie flinched instantly, letting out a light sequel as he pressed her into the counter.

"How are you so beautiful?" He whispered in her ear, feeling her sink back into him.

Her heart was racing, a soft laugh escaping her as her head fell on his chest. "Are you trying to scare me?" She wondered with a soft smirk as she lightly pushed the cutting board back.

"You just look so good, I couldn't help myself." He had a little smirk on his face as she turned around in his arms, eyes meeting his instantly.

"Oh, please." Biting down on her lower lip, her hand fell on his chest. "Now you're just trying to sweet talk..." she lingered, raising a brow playfully.

His eyes scanned over her facial features for a long moment, taking in all of her beauty. "I've missed you." Lindsey admitted, even though they had only been apart for a few hours, really.

But they had spent a lot of time together in the months leading up... a lot of time. In fact, they had begun doing everything together. It was weird when they were apart, even though they had spent a lot of years away from one another.

"I missed you, too." She nodded, head meeting his chest to be held a little tighter. "Did you have a good day? How are the kids?" She wondered, feeling him leave a soft kiss to the top of her head.

"We had a lot of fun. We went to the park, got ice cream, and then they had dinner." He assured, shrugging a shoulder lightly. "They're good, but they asked about you all day." Lindsey knew that would make her smile. "They wanted to know why you didn't come hang out with us." He frowned lightly, trying to pull her leg just a little.

With a faint grin, she let out a soft sigh. "I'll go next time, I promise." She had grown pretty accustomed to spending her Saturday afternoons with Lindsey and his two children, but she also knew they needed some time with just their father as well.

She wasn't going to interfere- she'd already promised herself that... They had a whole life without one another and suddenly, they were trying to combine them, which wasn't nearly as simple as they wished it could be. But they were trying and that seemed to be what mattered the most.

"I'm holding you to it." He was only half joking... He really had fun when she was there and after only a couple of months, it felt odd without her. "I actually have something to ask you..." Lindsey brought his hand up to her face, carefully pushing some of her loose strands behind her ear to see her better.

Creasing a brow, she smirked lightly. "Hmm?" She could tell by the sudden shift in those blue eyes that he was a little more nervous than before, which made her feel a little uneasy as well.

He chuckled a little, trying to lighten the mood. "Will you run away with me?" Lindsey repeated her words as he cradled her face in hands.

"Run away?" She giggled a tad, shaking her head lightly as she was almost certain he was just messing around.

But the longer she looked at him, the more she realized how serious he was being.

He nodded softly, letting her go long enough to grab the folder he had set on the counter behind them. "Run away with me, Steph." He handed it over to her, watching as she flipped it open to reveal a finalized divorce copy.

Staring down for a brief moment, she let out an almost tear filled laugh. "Well, where do you want to go?" She wondered, glancing back up at him.

For some reason, this didn't feel real... She didn't think that they would ever actually get to that place in their lives, where they were ready and willing to devote themselves to one another.

They'd spent so long running, it didn't seem possible.

"It doesn't matter to me as long as I'm with you."

She thought about it for a second, half a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "We're already gone."
