Gavin's POV
After reassuring mom that I was okay, and that she didn't need to fly up here, I was informed that I would be spending the night at the hospital.

Yay, note the sarcasm.

Dad offered to stay and said that he would sleep in the chair or the empty hospital bed next to mine. I declined reminding him that he had work tomorrow and wouldn't get a good sleep in the hospital. I did actually want him to stay, but I knew that his job was important and that he took it very seriously. Even if he was my dad, he was still the sheriff. I wasn't in immediate danger and I was stable, I can share him and he can be my dad another time.

I sighed as I flicked through channels trying to let off steam after Bella interrogated me about Edward. She wanted to know how he got to me and Angela so fast, and if he said anything to me about her. I lied and said that he had been close by and approaching us when everything went down. I then truthfully told her that he was more concerned about Angela, who was in danger and almost died, than he was about the girl that he didn't like and wasn't in danger.

She was then escorted out of the hospital by security after trying to slap me and called me a slew of names.

I groaned because all that was on was the news and reruns of different tv shows. I pouted as I continued surfing through channels, but suddenly paused and my face lit up at Family Guy. What? I like Stewie.

I tried to relax and watch it, but after the episode was over American Dad came on and I groaned because the only character that I liked was Roger and he was barely in this episode. I laid on my hospital bed and pouted like a child. My sulking was interrupted by feminine giggling, and my head snapped up to the familiar voice. I looked over to see Rosalie attempting and failing to hide her laughter.

My face lit up nevertheless and I happily greeted her "Hey, Rose! Are you okay?" She smiled and walked over "I'm fine, how are you?" She suddenly ran her fingers through my hair, being mindful of my injury, and sat in the chair next to my bed. I stared at her, flushed, before averting my gaze to my lap "I'm fine. Just bored" Rosalie chuckled "I noticed" I blushed even more if possible and glanced over at her "So what are you doing here so late?"

She shrugged and said "I figured since you were being held prisoner here I could at least keep you company" I smiled and quickly turned off the tv. "What do you want to talk about first?" I asked eagerly making Rosalie laugh at my excitement. She smiled and held my hand in hers "Everything."

My eyes fluttered open and I looked in the chair where Rosalie still sat watching tv and holding my hand.

It was a protective hold as if to reassure herself that I was alive and well and here with her. I noticed that she was watching a cooking channel and seemed to be intently taking notes on how to make the perfectly balanced breakfast. It was adorable how she seemed so focused and so invested in it. It was as if she was looking for answers to a really important question.

I found myself smiling as I stared at her 'I think that I'm starting to fall for you, Rosalie Hale.'

Rosalie's POV
After Gavin fell asleep I began asking my family members what I should do to spend time with him and not scare him off.

It's been so long since I've been on a date, or even tried to romantically spend time with someone. I was used to the men flocking me left and right, buying me gifts and flowers, and overall just trying to seduce me.

But Gavin was different. He's shy, sweet, and very empathetic to everyone, not to mention insecure which is something that I know about all too well. It was obvious that I would have to take the lead in the relationship which was new since when I was human I was destined to be a glorified housewife. I was supposed to just sit there and look pretty while my husband was in the spotlight.

My family came up with numerous answers like finding a common interest to hang out, to outright asking him to prom, and Esme even suggested that I bring him over to dinner one night. Edward gave me the most sound advice and said "Take it slow. Just tell him that you want to spend more time with him and make suggestions on what you two can do together like study dates, or relaxing at each other's houses. It's what I did with Angela."

It was really good advice and Esme's answer had gotten me thinking 'When Gavin comes over, would he like me to cook for him?' I immediately turned on the tv and switched it to the cooking channel on low volume. I took out a notebook and began taking notes, all while holding Gavin's hand.

Hours later I felt Gavin squeeze my hand and looked up to see a dopey grin on his face. I raised a brow but smiled back and asked "What?" "Did you stay here all night?" He flusteredly asked after a few minutes. I nodded and he squeezed my hand again "Thank you" I smiled and said "Your welcome."
