Arriving at the garages at the track in Jeddah, Liv adjusted her scarf on her head as the driver passed security. Annoying as it was, Liv still wanted to respect tradition until she was in the safety of the team garage. Once the driver pulled up, the door was opened and standing there was Andy Barber. "Andy!"
"Hey Livie!" The man hugged his new driver. Andy had been a driver himself back in the day and worked for her father's team. Liv was always around, growing up in front of his eyes. The last few years, she had been away, racing for lower divisions, winning a fair few races and championships on her own. "How was the flight in?"
"Long. Frank and Tony had me all fitted within a couple of hours but then I had to go to the embassy and shit and that took a few days. But here I am." She smiled and spread her arms to show off her team jacket.
"Nice. Well, I know you know a garage, but I need to introduce you to the team and stuff do let's do it." He held out his arm and she slid her own in as he guided her through the paddock. He walked her through the main area. "So, this is Red Bull racing. Here are your passes, one for the door and one for security at the front. It's good for all the tracks but for here, since, you know..."
"Yeah, I got it. I have to have an escort. Its fine Andy."
"Good. Well, I know one guy who won't mind," his eyes twinkled.
"Hey Bug!" Frank raced over and lifted his best friend up in the air.
"Hey Frankie!" Liv and Frank had met at the garage years before. He had been a rookie mechanic for Red Bull and Liv was interning for her sister at the time. They hit it off being the youngest workers in the paddock.
"You get in ok?"
"All sorted. They had me in the room next to yours, I think."
"Perfect. We can hang after the meeting since practice isn't until tomorrow." He dropped a kiss on the top of her head and took her hand. "The only people that are not here right now is Rogers and Barnes. Barnes will be here tomorrow once he gets the all-clear from the docs. Today, you're just meeting the team and seeing your car. Stark and I dropped the tub in, so I just want to make sure that it's still a good fit."
"Whatever you say Frankie!" Liv bounces like a child as they walk to the team meeting area.
Formula One racing teams are built to be a well-oiled machine. The amount of people for one car on a team is astounding and Liv was meeting with both. There 18 people just on the pit crew alone for one car, headed by the crew chief. Each person had a specific role, and each person was just as important to the team as the driver. Olivia grew up with respect for each of those people.
Her nerves shot up slightly as she was aware that not a lot of people knew she was coming on as the new driver. And she knew it would come as some sort of emotion depending on the person. Surprise, as she was a girl, anger because she was a girl, impressed, because she was a girl, and hostility, because she was a girl. This was a man's sport. But she wasn't going to let that stop her. She grew up in this world. And she was ready to take it by the balls.
Frank slowed down as the approached the area where the 40 or so men waited for the meeting to begin. They took note of Olivia in her racing jacket, appreciating her body underneath until Andy brought them to attention.
"Alright gentlemen, listen up! I know losing Bucky in the first race was really hard to watch. I am happy to announce that, while his injury is serious, the doctors say he can rejoin the team in an advisory role. Which he will as the crew chief for our new driver." The team applauded until he raised his hands. "Speaking of our new driver, please allow me to introduce her. She is a two-time Formula 3 champion, current motocross champion and now youngest driver for Red Bull Racing, Miss Olivia Williams."
