Chapter 2
She opened the door, squeezing herself in through the amount of space she chose to pass through.
"Sorry to bother you sir, but I have something to say."
I watched her move her way carefully almost as if she was nervous to do what it was that she wanted to do. I narrowed my eyes, staying put. She sat in one of the green-styled with gold lace wing-back chairs I held in this room.
"I don't mean to intrude in your business or your personal life but I don't think you should be treating your children the way how you treated your son just now."
"..."
"Yes unfortunately he is your son. I have spoken and was informed by some of the other maids who work here... and I know you don't want to hear it but.. you should!"
She started to get more confidence to speak the exact words that were on her mind and she showed no case of remorse even if it managed to hurt my feelings."Leonidas Ashton, the name of your first-ever and only son. He's currently seven years old turning eight next year. His birthday is February 14th. I know he doesn't resemble you, like much at all which is hard for you to believe he would be your son but please.. do not neglect him."
Saying nothing helps me think through my decisions more logically. Even if I were to keep denying this child, this girl would be so persistent in proving me wrong, which I have no clue as to why since it doesn't benefit her.
I could fire her, but what justice will that bring me? Nothing. Especially since she cares about the little guy so damn much. Heck! She might even run off with him, which would not be a bad idea. More like a good riddance, get rid of all that nagging around me, which is probably why I have this migraine.
But that plan could go to shreds. She could run off and report me, leaving me no choice but to take care of him or have him adopted which can look bad for me when I have my business to run.
"How am I supposed to believe all of this?"
This was starting to stress me out and I wanted to be done with it. This is not how I expected to start my morning."Don't you have a birth certificate? Or! What about his mom? Are you in any contact with her?"
"What makes you think that I will know any of that if I didn't even know his name up until now?"
An image of a woman with long black hair to her back and brown eyes flashed in my mind of memories.
"Sir?"
Vile called as I consciously found myself staring into space. Things started to become clearer to me as my whole life practically began replaying in my mind, from the time I was born to all the terrible mistakes I've made in my past, one being that woman... my son's mother.I stormed out of the room and back into the kitchen with Vile on my tail.
Left there were only two maids, a blonde who stood over watching my son and a grayed-haired old lady who was washing the dishes.
"Mrs... Potter!"
The old lady turned to me by surprise, at the calling of her name. I leaped on the inside for I felt like myself now, remembering things that were fogged up before.
"Yesss... sir?"
"Where is she? Where's Annie?"
"I haven't seen her at all this morning... I doubt she left as well, for we know she tends to sleep late a lot."
"I know so that means she slept here, but have you seen the direction that she may have gone in?"
"The last I saw her was in the living room with someone last night before heading off in the direction of your room."
I was lost and confused but I thanked her before turning to Vile. At that one time, I took a look at Leonidas who paid me no mind, his cheeks a rosy pink. I felt bad and ashamed of myself for doing that to him. Especially with it not being the first time...
"You stay here and find something to do. And as from now on, you will be taking care of Leonidas when I am not able to.... um, like being his personal help or whatever. Understand?"
I commanded Vile and she nodded her head before watching me walk away. While I walked passed my room and the study, continuing down the hall, my mind started imagining things that I refused to believe were possible or could even be true.
I arrived at the dark brown-coloured door, turned the shiny knob and pushed it open. My heart sped rapidly as I watched the two long large bumps in the covers.
Walking over, I stood by the bedside and continued watching as the two snore away in the same bed, sharing the same sheet.
She turned taking a stretch as she placed her arm around his waist with a warm pleasant smile. Her eyes slowly opened as I was now in her view.
Screaming till the lights break she fell off the bed.
"What the hell Ann?!!"
He instantly got up looking over the bed to where she lay right on the floor.
"What the hell is wrong with you?""There's a fricking weirdo in our room watching us sleep!"
She got up from the floor dusting off what she picked up when she landed on the floor. The man stared at her before making a face of disgust.
"I am serious! He's still there, look next to you!"He turned his head in my direction and raised his eyebrows to realize she was telling the truth before breaking down into laughter.
"WOAH! It really is such a shame when you don't recognize your own husband."
Annie took a closer look at me before gasping and quickly covering her mouth from any further sound which caused the man to laugh again.
"Ex-husband now."
"Christian! Oh my... I am so sorry honey. I didn't-"
"What I would like to know is... what are you doing in his bed?"
Her eyes widened, she could barely utter a word. The man got up from the bed still not able to keep himself in order from the situation at hand.
"Are you sleeping with him?""Heavens no!!"
"So what are you doing in his bed?"
