Hey there! Sorry for the delay, I got sad because the book is finished and I didn't want to write the final chapter lol
Thank you so much for reading this silly story! I hope you've enjoyed reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. I found that I really like these sorts of stories so you can expect something similar very soon.
Once again, thank you for all the votes and comments, it means the world to me <3
ROXANNE
Two scenarios played inside Roxanne's head since came back from the wedding.
The first one, in which everything continued the way it has for the past ten months. She would forget about the wedding, pretend none of it happened and she would finally end the Damien chapter in her life.
Roxanne knew she could. She didn't need him in her life anymore.
But she wanted him there.
Which brought her to the second scenario: a leap of faith.
And since she returned from the wedding, she tried to come up with a convenient reason why contacting Damien was, in fact, a good idea. In reality, she didn't know.
In reality, none of them knew.
People dived into relationships, affairs, marriages without any real clue whether it would work. Just a hunch, a leap of faith.
Heart pounding against her ribcage and hands slightly shaking, Roxanne pulled her hair up and tried to conceal traces of hangover with some makeup. She groaned at her own tired reflexion and pushed the table mirror away. Rushing through the apartment, Roxanne grabbed her phone and her wallet and locked the door in a haste.
Damien waited outside in a car and when Roxanne finally pushed the door open, his head snapped to the entrance. His expression gave nothing except tension away. The burst of adrenaline sent Roxanne's entire body on fire.
She had no idea what to say.
So, she walked to the other side of the car, opened the door and dropped in the seat, her eyes staring through the windshield. The air-conditioning cooled the interior enough to stop Roxanne's sweat from flooding her forehead and cleavage.
"Hey." Damien murmured, his hands glued to the steering wheel.
Roxanne leaned into the seat, her heartbeat exceeding normal pace, "Hey."
"What do you want to do?" Damien asked and Roxanne allowed herself a glance.
He stared straight ahead, his palms gripped the wheel, and his muscles looked tenser than usual.
"Coffee?" Roxanne's voice turned more gentle in an attempt to lighten the situation.
Damien finally looked at her, his eyes speaking way more than his tongue ever could, "Sure."
He started the engine. Roxanne's stomach flipped upside down and she felt the words tumble inside her belly, threatening to spill out in either language or vomit.
"You let me go."
Damien stepped on the brakes a few feet away from the starting position.
Roxanne bumped against the seat, brakes inside her giving way.
"You let me go." She repeated, the windshield in front of her blurring.
"I did." Damien said, his voice sounding strained. "You asked me to let you go, so I did."
"Yes." Roxanne nodded. "But you let me go yesterday, too."
She felt his gaze burning through her left cheek.
