Kageyama stared completely deadpan as Takeda-sensei attempted to catch his breath, hands on knees, head bowed. This in itself wasn't a rare occurrence.
He did recall a time back in his first year when it would shock him every time their faculty advisor would come barreling in at the news of a practice match or a training camp (it happened way more than you would expect).
It was funny, though, to see the expressions of the bewildering first years and the third years who would just watch amused at the ravenette's antics (Ennoshita, Kinnoshita, Narita) or would 'accidentally' trip him over on his way inside (Nishinoya and Tanaka but you didn't hear that from him).
Right now, though he wasn't laughing.
"A practice match." Takeda had wheezed out, his mint blue jacket ruffled from his running. "With Aoba Johsai."
Of-freaking-course.
Now, you might be thinking, how has he not gotten over the whole king thing and how is he not ok with kindaichi and kunimi yet? Like, it's been at least two years now.
But no. Apparently Kindaichi was very hung up on being as annoying as hell. Kageyama already knew what he did back in middle school was bad but please. Let it go already.
Kunimi on the other hand didn't care. Like at all. That said, it was easier just to follow Kindaichi so that's what he did.
And Kageyama was tired of it.
Please just let it go! He wanted to tell them.
But he was never very good at being the bigger man. So he just left it.
Distantly he felt a strange feeling of dèja vu.
Tanaka cackled.
"Oi Kageyama-kun! This seems real familiar, ain't it? Next thing we know, we find out that the Grand King was the one to organise this."
The crow-haired second-year rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, no, I think he might be a couple countries too far for that. Then again this is Oikawa-san that we are talking about so maybe."
Minato, one of their more rambunctious first years, a wing spiker whose skill could rival even a younger version of Kiyoomi Sakusa, nudged his friend Takahashi with his elbow.
"Our senpais are weird," he whispered, probably louder than he had meant it.
"I know right? And who's the grand king?" Takahashi answered, nudging his friend back, albeit a lot harder, causing the latter to muffle a cry of pain.
Tanaka smirked at Kageyama's scowl.
Nishinoya cut in.
"Haven't you and onion-head made up yet?" he asked.
"He's a stubborn turnip. I've apologised plenty. He's just being annoying." Kageyama replied.
Before either third year could retort, Kinnoshita spoke up.
"Alright, both of you. Let's just keep practising. You're confusing our kouhais."
At that, Hinata grabbed and dragged one of the Aoi, the backup libero over to practise his serves which they had learned that the first year lacked skill in.
Tsukishima rolled his eyes.
"Oi king!" he called out, the nickname no longer holding the bite it used to, instead revealing a sweet nickname ("no, Yamaguchi. It is NOT a pet name. Shut up!"). "Come set for me. Akira-kun, you come too. We can practise your receives." the shy outside hitter looked up.
