-Alexander-
The notes of the piano hit harshly but in a gentle rhythm.
It reflected us perfectly.
As I guided her body across my hall, the notes would tiptoe, following our every step.
I could hear the muttering of my men around us, our amazed crowd wondering how two who supposedly hated each other so much could hold such loving faces, how we seemed as intertwined with each other's souls as our bodies were in the moment through our dance.
My eyes had been stationed on hers the whole time but when those words hit our ears I could see the glimmer in her eyes and feel the power radiating in my own. The music was faster now. Harsher.
They were mistaken in so many ways, and our faces' smirks knew that all too well.
Our sickly sweet faces which wouldn't falter as we span, as we held each other hand-in-hand, as we stood in front of our crowd and took our bow, it was nothing but a perfect facade that we were both well practised in.
It was all part of the game that I had set out for us. The game that when mentioned, brought the insanity right to the surface of her expression.
"Alexander, you can't be serious?!" Elias had expressed as he heard the words come out of my mouth but I was the most serious I had ever been.
With her waist in my hand, her power flowed through me and I couldn't help but be sure.
A game to see who could take the power of the other first. And if taken, never returned.
"I accept." She told me and I knew she felt the rush that I had done when the words were spoken. This gamble was one we bet our lives on but we were both prepared to do so. That is what I had missed with anyone else, no one could satisfy my want for the dramatic, the insane, but here, she seemed to do just that.
"Go," I had whispered in her ear, "Get ready, we have a show to put on,"
I could feel her excited breath against my skin as she replied, "With pleasure."
I let her go and her elegant turn gave me all the confidence I needed to know that this wasn't something I was going to regret.
Later when our event was ready, I personally went to retrieve her from her room, her door was slightly open when I got there and from inside came her voice, it was dominating, completely different from the one she gave me earlier.
"Retrieve the case file, that's an order," She had said making me look up at the ceiling, thanking whatever divinity there was for bringing her to me.
I glimpsed inside to see the face of one who could murder for fun. The beauty everyone falls for wasn't her true perfection, I could see that clearly now. It was this. The eyes which seemed so bright in the light looked so dark, her fake expression of lust nowhere to be seen and now replaced with the ruling figure that I'm so sure she wished the whole world could see for, I'm sure, even a King would bow to it.
Yes. I thought. This is what I was looking for.
I knocked on her door and she was quick to end her call and look at me with innocence all over her face, it almost made me laugh.
"It's time."
She gave me a smile and walked towards me and into a better light.
That's when I got a better look at her and my breath halted in my throat for a moment.
Her gold silk dress screamed back at me, shimmering as if the attention she was receiving hadn't been enough. The Joker's figure teased those who looked while the fabric attached to her wrists were ready to strangle any who lured close enough.
