Lunch break more like lunch talk

Class is over and me and Donna walk into the hall way to lunch looking at all the club posters and the couples making out " so Donna what was SO IMPORTANT that you need to tell me " " umm.. y/n there's  a big rumor that you and Zach are like a thing " i stop walking " what did you say ?" Donna stops walking too " yea surprised you didn't know already everyone's been talking about this morning" "THATS INSANE DONNA WE HAVEN'T EVEN TALKED EVER "  " y/n 10 people saw what you did this morning including me we saw the look in your eyes" " yea Donna because i was PISSED that they messing with him again " I lean on a locker and start to pick my skin it's a bad habit of mine " fine but if I find out your dating your dead " she jokes "wha- whatever let's just get to lunch already" we get to the cafeteria and we already see Zach getting bullied again by the same people from last time I take a step to go stop it but Donna grabs my shoulder " y/n give it a rest let's just eat lunch before we get to class already " I sigh and give in to her words and went to the lunch line. we pay and get to our table but I can't stop looking at Zach but not in a creepy way just I hate how they treat him like he's not even a human person " hey Donna I gonna talk to Zach for a minute k?" she looks confused but looks happy " umm ok? " I give her a little thumbs up and leave the table I walk up to the table and look over Zach he's drawing a picture of a lake it's really pretty but before I compliment it  he looks behind him seeing me we lock eyes but he doesn't say anything and turns around I turn pink and sit down " so.. what are you drawing?" I try to start conversation between us really y/n what kind of question is that 🤦‍♀️!!!( y/n rn 😀😃)  " it's a lake I thought you knew that because you were behind me" he speaks softly but I could tell he didn't want to be bothered " u-um sorry I didn't want to be creepy or anything " he doesn't say anything and keeps drawing " it's Beautiful yk"  he takes his eyes off his sketchbook " thanks "  " I'm so sorry I never really introduced myself I'm y/n y/ln "  "aren't we next door neighbors? " " yep that's us" i awkwardly laugh and Zach looks back at his book and we stay in a uncomfortable silence the bell rings and Donna gives me a hand sign that we have to go " we should hang out sometime " we lock eyes again " really?" " yea I'm serious " " y-yea sure" " well bye " I quickly say and get up and walk back to Donna " what the hell happened y/n?! " " no time we need to leave " we get our trays and dump them in the trash can and head to our class.
