Yeonjun wiped his hands on the napkins and dumped them into the trash. Just as he was about to step out of the men's washroom, the sounds of someone sobbing echoed through one of the stalls. Admittedly, Yeonjun wouldn't have stopped to listen to anyone's sobs intentionally (breach of privacy, he liked to call it) if their voice hadn't sounded so familiar to him as they sobbed.

The voice was oddly similar to the sound he heard in the kitchen as the man who's been living with them for a while now. The same voice that would greet him when he would lock himself up in his room when piled up with lots of work or simply do random chores with his mother in the kitchen.

Taehyun .

But why in the living hell was he crying?

Frantic with his steps, Yeonjun knocked on the door of the stall from where the sound was coming from. "Taehyun, are you okay? Is that you?"

Yeonjun, you idiot! Obviously, he's not okay! He's crying.

In all the time that he'd spent with the boy, he'd never heard him so distressed. Yeonjun felt his pulse rise with every passing second till the other boy didn't respond.

It was concerning. Nowhere in hell did it sound normal— it sounded broken. High pitched sobs and the gasps he let out, Yeonjun felt his underlying protectiveness growing and taking over his system.

"Taehyun, please speak to me. Tell hyung what's wrong."

"I'm waiting for you." Still no response.

He banged his fish against the locked stall, his own eyes starting to glisten at all the scenarios he'd started to make up in his head. His heart would drop out of his chest any minute now.

"I swear to god, Kang Taehyun, I am gonna break down this door if you don't come out of there this instant."

Of course, Yeonjun was kidding. He didn't want to potentially ruin his chances of landing a good job because of a stupid broken door and hinder with Taehyun's future at the same time. He was hoping Taehyun would just take it.

Or maybe not. He would actually break the whole door down if it meant Taehyun's safety right then and there. He was way too far gone for the boy to think rationally.

His Taehyun was there, crying. Lord knew what had happened, if he was hurt or if something else had happened. All Yeonjun hoped he'd just open the door before he had to take drastic measures.

And it worked.

The latch unlocked ever so slowly, opening the door to the stall that revealed a pair of puffy red eyes. They were glossy with tears and just a glance of him made the elder male's blood boil.

When Taehyun opened the entire door, revealing his splotched body and hair completely disheveled, all Yeonjun could see was red.

Incredulity filled his senses upon landing his gaze on the man standing before him, taking in his appearance. It wasn't going to be good.

Before Yeonjun could even process his thoughts, the smaller boy had crashed into his arms and wrapped his arms around him ever so tightly, burying his head in his chest, sobbing.

Yeonjun's heart dropped when the sobs just didn't seem to stop. In a state of panic, Yeonjun simply didn't know what he had to do. Settling for simple, he threaded his hands through the younger's hair and whispered soft nothings in his ears, hoping it would help the boy calm down even just a little bit.

"Taehyun, look at me," Yeonjun ordered, pulling Taehyun's body away from himself, scanning him.

His clothes were tattered in random places and his face was covered with random red marks—paint? Lipstick?
