⇨ 𝟒 - 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 .

max is being rolled to a room to get her cast off first, so she and lucas are both ecstatic.

they finally get to the room and the doctor pulls out some sort of strong blade to cut the casts off.

after a while, max has them all off, and is bending her limbs.

"it feels so great to have those casts off!" max exclaims with a wide smile.

lucas smiles at max's excitement and then the doctor signals them to follow him into the testing room.

" so , max. are you scared ?"

"no! why would i be? i'm actually happy for once!"

" i'm really glad to hear that max. i'm so glad you're here."

"me too lucas."

lucas goes to say something else when,

"okay! we are here ! maxine, lucas, why don't you have a look?"

"sure" says lucas, disappointed he didn't get to finish.

"that doctor is always interrupting us right? lets go lucas c'mon!"

"ok max." lucas is still admiring max's smile after he hadn't seen it for so long.

"wow! this place is pretty big!" says max, full of excitement.

"alright maxine ready to get started ?"

"I sure am doctor !"

"alright, lucas will you help me get maxine out of the wheelchair please?"

"of course, doc."

lucas and the doctor slowly loft max from the chair, in the process, max falls into lucas' arms.

"oh! sorry lucas." max says, her face turning a bit pink.

"it's okay.. yea its okay" lucas is so flattered by max's red hair, and gorgeous eyes.

"alright maxine, with help of lucas lets try to stand you up."

"ok doctor." says max, still embarrassed and flustered she'd fallen into lucas' arms.

"right, so max i'm gonna pull you up by your arms ok ?"

" ok lets do this." max says, determined.

"okay, we've took way too many breaks, and it feels like we've been here so long." lucas says, exhausted.

"c'mon I know I can do it! one last time?"

"sure, just because your my best friend."

lucas pulls max up with the last of his strength, then..

she stands.

"MAX! YOU DID IT !!"

"I DID IT I DID IT!!"

lucas has tears of joy in his eyes.

"well, this is gonna take longer than the doctor thought. start practice tomorrow at 8?" max says a bit disappointed but eager.

"of course."

over the course of a month, max has learned basic skills. walking, running, jumping, and so on.

during her training, lucas and max have grown closer than ever.

" well it's been a month maxine, and your looking great!" the doctor says, happy for max.

"and you know what..?"

"what is it?" max says, curious.

"I think you're ready."
