Hey, guys! This is my book based on Kelena (Katherine and Elena). I must warn you their dynamic will be ridiculously toxic. Still, I can assure you that the story will be filled with unexpected plot turns, so it will be interesting. If you like it, please vote with a star so that other people can find my story too. Thank you!😊 Now, let's get to chapter 1.

Elena's POV (the only POV in this chapter)
Right now, I'm laying on the motel's bed. Katherine is sleeping naked right next to me under the bed covers. I am looking at my clothes thrown on the carpet and wonder what to do. I don't know how to explain my feelings about what happened. It wasn't the first time it happens which worries me even more. We were trying to find Stefan this whole time, but it doesn't look like that anymore. Suddenly, I feel how Katherine wakes up, takes my hand and pulls me aggressively towards her lips. A few seconds later she is on top of me, kissing me passionately. I brushed her hair with my fingers and... wait! You probably don't understand anything. Maybe I should return the tape two weeks early and start from the beginning.

I woke up quite early on 20th July. It was 6 o' clock in the morning and I was about to take a shower. The past three weeks had been very hard for me because Stefan had left Mystic Falls. What worried me even more was that his humanity was off and he was with Klaus Mikaelson. That hybrid had taken banks filled with my blood, so that he could create his hybrid army. I guess Stefan was his first soldier... I couldn't eat or sleep knowing that Stefan was doing terrible things because of Klaus. I had to find a way to find my boyfriend and get his humanity back at any cost.

The problem was that I didn't know how. Damon was grieving because he thought that Stefan was gone forever. He wouldn't have helped me for sure. If I had told him that I wanted to go after Stefan I might have even ended up in a cellar. Bonnie was currently in Europe with her dad and I didn't even know why. Caroline was too busy with the whole Tyler drama and I didn't want to be a burden to her. Alaric had left town because he hadn't been able to handle the pain from seeing all the places where he and Jenna had been together. I didn't blame him. Sometimes even I wished I never lived here. It had been nearly half an year since Jenna died, but I missed her. It was strange how she was never in the kitchen anymore when I came home from school. Or that her bedroom was empty whenever I looked inside through the wooden door. Stefan was not here too and I felt like I was all alone.

One good thing was that it was summer. I wasn't obliged to go to school every day and I had enough free time to think. I was sure that I would be able to bring Stefan back. I've done it before after all when he had been forced to drink my blood.

When I got out of the shower I noticed that my phone was vibrating on my nightstand.
"Elena, your phone!" Jeremy called out from his room where he was playing his favourite video games.
"I got it!" I called back at him. It was Caroline. I hastened to answer her:
"Hey, Care! What's up?"
"Elena! Hey! It's been a while." Caroline noted.
"True. You know that with the whole Stefan drama I haven't had time to call you. I'm sorry." I apologised to her. I really felt bad. I hadn't had time for her at all.
"Hey, it's okay. How about we meet at the grill today and catch up?" my friend suggested.
"Yeah, of course. That would be great."
"Awesome! Are you okay with 4 o' clock in the afternoon. I have to see Tyler before that..."
"Yeah... it's fine." I agreed remembering that she had problems too.

There was a lot of time until my appointment with Caroline, so I used it to look at some maps. I had clues about where Stefan could be and started thinking. It was very possible for him to be near Tennessee. A lot of people were found dead near there and it was the most likely place. As I was looking at one of the maps thoughtfully, I heard the news on the TV:
"22 year old Jennifer McGough was found dead last night around 3 am in Memphis. According to the autopsy, her body was drained of blood. Her family says she was together with her boyfriend, Thompson White, on a camping in the forest. The 26 year old boy is missing since tonight and the police are doing everything they can to..."
I was shocked to hear this. So it was possible? It was possible for Stefan to be near Tennessee how I thought? Still, I shuddered to think he had done that. I immediately noted Memphis as a possible place. Then, I started getting ready for going out.

I got upstairs to my room, and sat by the window to do my makeup. I don't know why I chose this place. I put my foundation and continued with doing my lashes. Out of a sudden, a note flew through the window and fell on the floor. I rushed to see what it's inside of it.

It was typical white paper and the text was written with black ink. It looked like someone really did their best to write the note. I opened it and that was inside of it:
We have something urgent to discuss. I know you've been struggling to find Stefan, so I'd like to tell you what I know. If you're interested, I'll be waiting for you by Wickery Bridge tonight at 12 o' clock. Don't tell anyone about this or you won't find out anything.
There wasn't a name. I wondered who that could be. However, it sounded a bit ominous. It could be a fake signal, but it was my only opportunity. I figured I'd ask Caroline for some advice.

It was time to go out. As a locked the front door and put the keys in my bag, I felt like someone was watching me. I couldn't explain it, but someone was there for sure. I looked around and when I didn't see anyone I continued walking down the street towards the grill.

I saw Caroline sitting on a table and waving at me with a beaming smile. She stood up and hugged me warmly:
"Ohhhh, I missed you so much!"
"I missed you too." I exclaimed suffocated by her hug. I sat on one of the chairs. "So, how are things with Tyler?" I asked her.
"Well, the full moon is in three days, so he is worried."
"Will you be there to help him?" I was curious.
"Yes, of course. I never leave his sight when he turns."
"Just be safe, okay?"
"Don't worry about me. Tell me what's going on with Stefan. Any leads?" my blonde friend asked me.
"Yeah, actually. I think he is around Tennessee. Many people are being found dead around there." I explained.
"Do you need anything? I could help." Caroline asked in a soft voice.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine." I said and she took my hand, smiling at me.
"Is there something else?" Care wanted to know. I wanted to tell her about the note. Then, howbeit, I remembered that they won't tell me anything if I show the note to someone else. That was why I kept quiet.
"No, that's it." I exclaimed.

This is the end of the first chapter. I really hope you liked it. If you have any questions or constructive criticism you can leave a comment. Thanks in advance for your support, I appreciate it🫶🏻
