Depression

Sonic sighed as he stayed in the comfy confines of his own bed. This would be day 3 of him only getting up for extremely necessary things, like eating and using the bathroom.

Tails was worried. Everyone was worried about the Blue Blur. Hell, even Eggman stopped attacking because it wasn't fun without Sonic.

Today, Tails decided to bring the food to Sonic, wanting to try and talk to him.

He made his way over to Sonic's room and opened the door, seeing him on his bed, laying dormant.

"Hey, Sonic, I brought you some chili dogs..!" Tails was hoping it would cheer him up, and he did perk up a bit and sit up to take the food, but he didn't say a word. Only a nod of thanks as he started eating one.

"Sonic, please talk to me. Everyone's worried about you... We want to help, but we need to know what's going on..." Tails begged, making Sonic let out a small sigh with an equally small nod.

"No one can help me." He stated, his voice completely drained of that cocky, energetic energy he always had.

"O-Of course we can..!"

"Tails." He said firmly, making the orange fox back away slightly. "I'm depressed. It's the same shit over and over and over again. I defeat Eggman, I'm the hero, woooo. Rinse and repeat. I want one day, just one, to be something different. Just every now and then, maybe once a month to keep my spirits up. But the last time things changed was years ago."

Now it was Tails' turn to sigh. "Well, I know I can't help with that... But... I think I know someone who can..!"

Before Sonic could object, Tails quickly got out of the room and called up someone as Sonic finished off his chili dogs.

About 30 minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Tails opened it eagerly, and a black hedgehog stood before him.

"Wow, I can't believe you actually came!" Tails exclaimed, knowing damn well the other would've rather been anywhere but here.

"Well, I couldn't just leave Sonic to rot. He's my rival, although we haven't fought in a while... He's not my enemy, so I'll help." He said, inviting himself in to look around.

"That's great! I'm hoping that you could at least help him some."

"What's the problem with him, anyways? You were very cryptic over the call."

"He told me that he's depressed, tired of the same things happening over and over, he wants some variety. And you're the variety he's gonna get, whether he likes it or not."

"Touché. Which door leads to his room?"

"The 2nd one on the left."

And with that, he walked toward Sonic's room and didn't bother knocking as he swung open the door.

"...Shadow..? What the fuck are you doing here..?" Sonic sounded slightly intrigued, but was overall tired and completely out of it.

"Fuck, you're worse than I thought..." He mumbled softly. "I'm here because Tails called me over, and I didn't want to leave you a sad lump." Shadow said as he vaguely gestured to Sonic.

"Thanks, but I'd rather sulk in the comfort of my bed."

"That's my job. Get your ass up, I'm taking you outside."

"What, to touch some fucking grass?"

"If that's what it takes."

Sonic groaned and slowly got up from his bed, almost falling in the process as he clung to Shadow for dear life.
