the crickets chirped under the night sky, its darkness overpowered by the light of the bright city..

once dan escaped the hellscape of an icecream shop, he was greeted by the quiet night but no sign of his boyfriend anywhere

"magnus?" he turned both ways before he began walking. passing the few stores by the parlor before approaching an alleyway where magnus stood leaned against a wall. phone in hand scrolling through what looked to be social media and very interestingly: he had his cloak and mask off.

"hey.. you're not wearing your cloak.. or your mask." dan giggled walking up to him.

"yeah.. it just gets hot after a while." magnus shrugged having it held in his arm neatly folded. of course dan had seen magnus without his cloak or mask many times.. but everytime he did it was kind of a surprise..

anyway, once dan had approached magnus, he placed his forehead on the elder's shoulder looking down at the dirt floor and mumbled "i'm sorry.." causing magnus to look from his phone down at the younger.

"sorry?" magnus asked with a chuckle. "now wh-whatre you apoligizing for danny?"

"the mess in the parlor! inviting you was such a bad idea.. had I known how my friends would have acted and i wouldn't have involved you in such drama. and bringing your friends to our table! i should have known things were bound to get ugly and..!"

"dan, hey, don't blame yourself for what happened. seriously kouzo it wasn't your fault." magnus chuckled as he wrapped his arm around dan bringing the boy closer. "you were just trying to bring your friends and mine closer which im proud of your efforts by the way.. it's just.. knowing them it's kind of always been impossible."

"i know. and i should have known that." dan sighed. "i just get tired of this dumb rivalry we all have sometimes. i just wish we could all be friends y'know."

"i know. and i wish it was like that too but, the bakugan scene is pretty tense out there. our fanbases expect us to hate eachother."

in response dan giggled and hugged magnus' side. "ironic knowing that the most popular rivals are the ones in love."

magnus giggled too and kissed dan's forehead. "wow. wonder who that could be."

dan laughed with blush redder than the dyed streak in his hair. he hugged the elder tighter. "i'm cold.. can i borrow your cloak?"

"oh? sure." magnus took the cloak from his arm and handed it to dan who then put it on. it was big on him with the ends dragging onto the floor and the sleeves going past his hand but it covered him in warmth just fine which was the goal in the first place.

dan chuckled as he felt into the cloak pocket finding magnus' half purple mask. he set it on also grinning up at the elder.

"check it out magnus, i'm you." the boy giggled suddenly turning his expression serious and placing his arm over his nose. "i am the darkness that punishes all evil! feel the fury of my powerful partner, nillious! darkus blast!"

magnus burst out in laughter at dan's impression of him.. or more like, the person he pretended to be to please the masses. it was spot on even he had to admit! "ah that was good dan, keep going."

"dan? as in my good for nothing rival? ha! I'd sweep the floor with him! he is pathetic and deserves to be squashed!" dan growled in his best magnus voice then dramatically turned around. "let's get out of here nillious. this situation has been rather.. ridiculous."

the brunette then bolted to the opposite way of the alleyway as he laughed. magnus chuckled and ran after him. "magnus! wait up! where are you going?" he called out laughing.

the younger didn't get all too far but once magnus caught him he embraced the younger from behind as he crouched causing the mask to fall from his face but neither of them cared, too giddy by the situation. they both laughed. the red streaked more out of breath than the other.

magnus nuzzled the back of dan's neck like a cat, giggling. "i love you."

dan giggled also. "i love you too." it was moments like these that were truly special to the two. moments where they alone away from the rowdy world that expected so much from them just because of their fame. moments where they could just be themselves..

and as magnus held dan, the brunette suddenly looked up enthralled by a certain building.

"hey magnus."

"mm ..yeah?"

"remember how you said that you owed me?"

magnus nodded. "yup."

the pyrus brawler grinned and pointed to the building. it was a small arcade. squished between a bakery and a lawyers firm. from the looks of it the place was pretty empty but the colorful array of games showed it wasnt closed. the lack of people however caused the teens to not be all that cautious.

dan looked up at magnus "buy me some tokens and we'll call ourselves even."

the black haired smiled. "seems like a good deal to me."
