"Are you going to sit in my kitchen all day or come out and show your face at your daughter's birthday party? you been doing this for four years straight it's getting old"
Tamara, my ex and the mother of my four year old daughter Bailey complained grabbing pasta salad from the fridge to take out into her backyard.
"I'll be out in a minute" I rubbed my face, the only thing Tamara knew how to do well was stress me out and spend my money.
"Can we act like a happy family just once?"
"No, because we aren't a family, we are just coparents"
Every little event Tamara put together for Bailey was a production for her family to keep up with the lie like we were some happy little family.
"I hate when you do that"
"What? Be honest?" She shook her head chuckling.
"At some point you were all for me how do you think we got here?"
I never regretted having Bailey, I regretted the action that got her here and the woman I chose to make her with.
"Its been four years-
"Exactly, you sitting up here mopping about somebody who you haven't seen or spoken to in four years, let it go"
Although my daughters birthday always brought me happiness it also was a painful reminder how I hurt the love of my life in the worst way.
"Tamara, please go entertain your family and leave me alone"
"Why won't you open your eyes after all these years look who stuck around, Adoure left you high and dry-
"Keep her fucking name out your mouth, aight?" I stood up from the kitchen table.
"I been around for almost ten years, had your baby-
"I never once gave you the impression that I wanted a future with you because you had Bailey, the time we had together was a mistake"
"So Bailey was a mistake?"
I groaned rubbing my eyes, I couldn't spend too much time around Tamara without my blood pressure rising and giving myself a headache.
"Bailey wasn't a mistake, you were" Although harsh I knew she needed to hear the truth, something I owed Adoure four years ago.
"You'll never leave me alone, you always try to move forward and end up doubling back to me"
"Only reason I doubled back to you was off of being dumb and knowing you was easy to fuck"
Tamara flinched like I had slapped her in the face, I brushed past her to go outside and show my face to my daughter.
