Homer Spit was our last major stop, and we devoted a few days to it. From shopping to restaurants, to boat and flight excursions, there was something for everyone.

We had a seaplane adventure scheduled for our last day here, and we were able to fill in our empty time slot, somewhat last minute, with a kayak trip for the big kids and two adults.

For the first afternoon and both evenings, we enjoyed the beach and the spit. It's home to the famous Salty Dawg Saloon. We couldn't bring the kids, but the men ducked out for a beer while the ladies/kids went shopping. The Spit has tourist shops ranging from tacky to upscale.

We hit the gelato shop multiple times (Carmen's Gelato) and ate out for most of our meals here. We were tired of campfire cooking, and luckily, there were restaurant options (casual, pricey, sit down or take out) with some availability, even for a party of nine, without reservations (although I wouldn't recommend this).

If you're ever in the area, I'd suggest Boardwalk Fish and Chips for lunch/dinner. It wasn't cheap for a red-basket meal (nothing is in Alaska), but it was fresh and tasty. It was easily my Alaskan favorite. 😋

Rock skipping 101. I stink at it, but not for a lack of training, provided by our self-declared household expert at all things (my eldest, 16).
