He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.

-Qur'an [ Surah Al-Hashr verse 23]

The "Maktub" is completely based on the foundation of "Tawheed" and if that's weak then the whole story comes down trembling and none but we will be held responsible for that.
When the purpose is clear and that's "Ibadah", Tawheed is the main ingredient of it.
Tawheed basically means monotheism, associating nothing with the worship of Lord the Originator of whole universe. Ibadah brings righteousness in our souls and righteousness makes us closer to our Lord.
And worshipping doesn't mean that a person is supposed to sit in the corner of a room and do Ibadah, pray salah and do adhkār, that's not the case. Worshipping includes our daily life's routine, meetings and greetings, friends and relatives, provisions and providing etc, every activity is counted as Ibadah if we are doing it with intention the of pleasing Allah. As Allah says in His Book regarding this,

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
{Surah Al-Baqarah 177}

Never a person can attain highest ranks by being self centred, it takes a selfless soul to build a castle in Jannah and it is a green card to meet our Lord.

Tawheed is the key to open the doors of acceptance of our Ibadah in fact, associating any partners with Allah will nullify our worship and good deeds that we do. Being mindful of our actions and words we utter is important because slightest of shirk i,e; polytheism is not acceptable in the Kingdom of our Lord.

Allah openly shows His signs of being Omnipotent and we need to pay heed to those signs look around the nature, the trees, the mountains and within ourselves are signs to comprehend to understand Tawheed, Allah says in Surah Al-Fātir,
