Kaeya groaned as he came to, pain shooting through his body. His own men had turned on him and the fact that he was still alive right now was a miracle in itself.
"Kaeya!? Kaeya, are you there!? What's happened!?" The piece in his ear chimed to life as Albedo was finally able to get through all the interference.
"No I'm not okay! I've been shot!" Kaeya hissed. "My team turned on me."
"Where is your location, I'll come and pick you up?" Albedo asked quickly, knocking over some books as he grabbed for a pen and notebook.
"Old Mond, we were following a claim of spies setting up camp there." Kaeya answered. "Seems I was their actual target." Kaeya grunted as he tried to sit up. He was blinded as cars pulled up in front, the headlight shone through the broken glass. "Dammit. I've got company. Looks like they came to finish the job." Kaeya hissed as he clambered to his feet, gritting his teeth through the pain as he moved behind a pillar next to him. He barely had enough time before shots went off.
"Hold out there, I'm coming to get you." Albedo instructed.
"Easier said than done! You're not a field agent, Albedo." Kaeya reminded him, removing his empty clip from his gun and sliding in a new one.
"Perhaps not, but I still receive field agent training and as you are my partner, I'm not about to leave you to die." Albedo insisted. Kaeya could hear the sound of a car starting.
"You're not going to get here in time, Albedo. Continue the mission, that takes priority." Kaeya insisted.
"Kaeya-"
"That's an order, Albedo. Finish the mission. If they are on to me, you may be compromised too, we don't have time. I went into this prepared to die. Get the mission finished." Kaeya insisted, peaking out to fire back. He hit one of the men before ducking back to avoid another volley of bullets. "Albedo?" But there was no response to Kaeya's orders. Albedo was either silent or no longer there. Kaeya couldn't think about that now though, he needed to focus on survival.

"What the hell do you mean you're a spy!?" Diluc snapped, staring at the man he thought of as a brother. The two had been working together for years, since they were both young.
"Exactly what I said." Kaeya frowned. He hadn't expected this sort of reaction from Diluc. Diluc was practically a brother to him and to have him react so hostile towards him was a shock, though it was probably no less shocking to Diluc to learn his partner was a spy from the Khaenri'ah Mob, or what was left of it at least.
"Why would you tell me that!? Are you stupid! I could turn you in right now for being a traitor and you would be executed. Dammit I should kill you now myself." Diluc cursed, turning away from Kaeya.
"Come on D, spy or not we are still partners. I've always had your back, no matter what." Kaeya insisted, frowning at him.
"I can't do this Kaeya. This is insane." Diluc hissed. "I'm not going to tell anyone, but I'm not going to lie for you either. Get the hell out of here before I change my mind and shoot you." Diluc growled.
"Alright, alright." Kaeya held up his hands, walking past Diluc as he left his partner's house.
He had no idea what had compelled him to tell Diluc that he was a spy. It was a risk, but he thought Diluc would trust him enough. He was stupid is what he was and he was counting his stars that Diluc wasn't going to turn him over. With Commander Varka on a special assignment with Barbados, the Mondstandt Agency was being run by Jean. She was close friends with him and Diluc but Diluc had never trusted the higher ups and that was likely what had saved Kaeya at all. Diluc had trusted three people in the agency, Jean, Kaeya, and himself. That was it. Now, it was down to only two people.
