I carefully studied the words written on her grave and a small smile made its way to my lips. "Dad seems much happier now," I found myself saying.
"True," Enrico interrupted. "The therapy sessions really helped him learn how to function without you." He joked, causing all four of us to smile.
"I'm pregnant," I whispered, causing all my brothers to look at me in shock.
"What the fuck!?" Calvino exclaimed.
"Again?" Antonio groaned in disappointment. "Kids are the worst."
"Says the guy with 5 of them!" Enrico muttered.
"Yeah, so I can speak from personal experience that kids suck." He concluded.
"Mom, don't listen to him. He's literally the softest parent out of the three of them." Calvino snickered. "But back to Scarlett, are you actually pregnant?"
I grinned at him before bursting out laughing. "Never again!" I exclaimed. "Pushing out kids is hard you know with the whole pain and the sweating and the time in labour and-."
"Yeah, yeah, we get it. Pregnancy is fucking hard." Enrico muttered.
"Mom should know she had to push out all 4 of us and take care of another baby." I said.
"Another baby?" Antonio asked, confused.
We all looked at each other then realised who I was talking about. "Dad," We all said together with a wide grin before we broke out in a fit of laughter.
After we composed ourselves I looked back at the grave as if our mother was actually there listening and laughing with us. "Well, it is your anniversary of your death so we replaced your favourite snacks and added more of your favourite flowers."
"We want you to know how much we love each other without you being the glue to keep us together." Calvino joked.
"And we also want you to know how much we love you. Dead or alive. You're still the best mom and always listen to our issues." Enrico smiled.
"And we know that you love us. And you're still looking out for us. Thank you for being our mother." Antonio concluded.
We took a brief moment of silence before standing up and walking away from her grave.
"Scar, how's your picnic coming along?" Calvino asked.
"I can't believe you're not coming," I groaned in annoyance. "Same with you two."
"I have to finish packing with Marco because we're travelling tomorrow." Calvino explained.
"Really? Choosing your husband over your darling sister?" I questioned, pretending to be hurt. "What's you twos excuse?"
"I have 5 fucking kids isn't that a good enough excuse?" Antonio exclaimed.
"And I have 1." Enrico shrugged. "Plus your kids are literal demons." He added.
As I covered my mouth I gasped in shock. "My kids are angels." I beamed.
All three of my brothers laughed at my claim, shaking their heads.
"Scar, even though I'm their favourite uncle and I love them, your kids are troublesome."
"Whatever," I muttered walking away from them and to the car Aleksander was waiting for me in.
Once I got in he noticed my sour mood. "Yes?" He asked, waiting for me to tell him what's wrong.
"My brothers think our kids are troublesome." I told him.
